Since they used to be mortal enemies in the early parts of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” it was quite difficult to believe that Tindeng and Roda, impeccably portrayed by veteran actress Charo Santos and renowned filmmaker Joel Lamangan, would eventually become best friends.

Both having strong personalities, it can be recalled that they used to often clash with one another, which even resulted in the detention of Tindeng after he filed charges against her for a crime that she didn’t commit.

Well, that was when Roda was still one of the richest persons in their barangay as we’d witnessed how life has humbled him, which prompted him to soften up and become kind and approachable, particularly towards Tindeng and her daughter Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) since he now lives with them as their bedspacer.

In this episode of Kapamilya Update, let us revisit the five scenes from “FPJ's Batang Quiapo” that show how Tindeng and Roda’s connection has evolved from mortal enemies to inseparable besties.

Their closeness began when Roda enthusiastically greeted Tindeng when she swung by Marites’ stall in Quiapo to supposedly pay her a visit. She was accompanied then by Katherine (Ara Davao), the granddaughter of her employers, Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) and Señora Bettina (Tessie Tomas).

As if her way of attempting to create a cordial connection with Tindeng, Roda welcomed her by relaying the news about Tanggol (Coco Martin) getting discharged from prison yet living in a different house, and Rigor (John Estrada) bringing his pregnant mistress, Lena (Mercedes Cabral), to their house, which both got her shocked.

Since then, Roda has been Tindeng’s sidekick and adviser as they’ve become inseparable. They were joining forces in confronting the gossip-mongers in San Dimas, who blatantly talked about their family after the bloody fistfight between Tanggol and Rigor, as well as the scorching and dramatic exchange between Tanggol and Marites regarding the identity of his biological father.

There were also instances when Roda served as the “pacifier” of Tindeng. He may still be loquacious, but he knows how to calm her down everytime she gets triggered, such as when they tried to borrow P100,000 from Emily, one of the known money-lenders in their barangay, for them to be able to post bail for Marites following her arrest. Not only that Emily didn’t grant their wish to lend them money, but she also hurled snide remarks at their family and even said that they must get out of San Dimas.

Similarly, Roda was also able to stop Tindeng from attacking those who continued to talk about the skirmish among Tanggol, Rigor, Ramon (Christopher de Leon), and David (McCoy de Leon), as well as those who tried to lambast her over what happened.

And lastly, as they discussed the humongous event that affected and disturbed the San Dimas, Tindeng conveyed her worry about Tanggol transforming into someone like David, especially now that he’s under the wing of Ramon as his the Montenegro’s one and only legitimate heir and son. But Roda advised her to simply believe that Tanggol is inherently kindhearted, saying, “Huwag pangunahan ng takot ang puso mo, Tindeng.”

Will Roda and Tindeng’s friendship continue to thrive? Let’s all find out by not missing an episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” weeknights at 8 PM, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, and TV5.
