Jameson Blake’s effortless charm and Esnyr Ranollo’s spot-on comedic timing bring even more good vibes to DonBelle's "How To Spot A Red Flag" series.

Jameson plays JR, the laid-back surfing dude and best friend of Matt (Donny Pangilinan), who drags him into a catfishing fiasco, which ultimately leads Matt to meeting the spunky barista, Cha (Belle Mariano). Meanwhile, bringing Cha’s ‘kunsintidor’ and ‘sulsol’ bestie, Maxie, to life is none other than Esnyr.

When asked to describe the vibe on set, Jameson and Esnyr both went for the words light and happy. And honestly, how could it not be? Imagine being locked in for filming in a paradise like La Union. It’s a guaranteed good time. As Jameson puts it, it was the perfect balance of work and play, especially since he had to learn how to surf for his character.

And with DonBelle as his barkada on set, fun naturally becomes part of the equation. This is his second time working with Belle since “Four Sisters Before The Wedding” in 2020, but his first time sharing the screen with Donny. In fact, the three of them are more used to casually bumping into each other backstage at “ASAP” than actually working together. That’s why, for Jameson, finally getting to team up with DonBelle for this series feels like a refreshing change.

Esnyr is also having the time of his life with all the bardagulan moments he shares with Donny and Belle in La Union, many of which he posts on social media. He’s gotten so comfortable with them that he even jokes about how he and Belle could pass as twins.

For DonBelle fans, TikTok star and content creator-turned-actor Esnyr is no stranger. His first big break in movies was "Love Is Color Blind" three years ago, where he starred alongside DonBelle. And now, in his first-ever series, he’s once again working with the same loveteam. According to Esnyr, DonBelle hasn’t changed a bit; they’re still as fun and humble as ever. But seeing them reach greater heights in their careers has only deepened his respect for them.

Beyond DonBelle, Esnyr is grateful for the whole ensemble cast—Angel Aquino, Christian Vasquez, Benjie Paras, Mylene Dizon, and more—for making him feel completely at home on set. Not once did he feel intimidated or treated like a newcomer. Of course, stepping into his first series came with its fair share of pressure and nerves, especially with longer dialogues compared to his previous acting gigs. But with such a warm and welcoming team, Esnyr has embraced the challenge head-on.

Beyond the cotton candy kilig, "How To Spot A Red Flag" dives into the harsh realities of modern dating. In a time where no-label relationships, situationships, and love scams are becoming the norm, how do you even spot genuine love?

Luckily, Jameson and Esnyr believe they haven’t personally experienced catfishing, which is one of the topics explored in the series. When asked what they would say to people who fake their profiles online just to get someone’s attention, Jameson didn’t mince words. He said it’s simply a waste of time and helps no one, and that it’s better to channel your energy into something more worthwhile. As for those on the receiving end of catfishing, he reminded them to stay vigilant.

Esnyr, on the other hand, took a more empathetic perspective, pointing out that some people might resort to using fake photos or identities because they feel insecure about their looks. He advised then, "Hindi mo kailangan na magtago sa ibang identity para tanggapin ka, para i-love ka. Tanggapin mo ang sarili mo and don't hide behind those masks." Embrace yourself, as he puts it.

Still in keeping with the series' theme, Kapamilya Chat asked Jameson and Esnyr about the biggest red flags they see in a person. Jameson was quick to point out lack of respect, especially when someone is selective about who they treat well. For instance, how a person interacts with restaurant staff or people in service roles can reveal a lot about their character. In any situation, even in relationships, disrespect is a major warning sign.

Esnyr agreed, adding that he also dislikes people who think too highly of themselves. But when it comes to romance, he pressed that cheating is an obvious red flag, along with keeping the relationship a secret. While it's fine to be low-key as there’s no need to constantly show off a relationship, but pretending to be single when you're already committed is a major no-no.

As for friendships, Esnyr considers it a red flag when someone purposely leaves a friend out. He’s fine with low-maintenance friendships. He understands that adult life gets busy because people have their own careers and lives to focus on. But he believes that when there's an opportunity to invite someone, you should at least try even if you know they're busy or can’t make it, just so they don’t feel excluded.

One more thing he’s learned about friendship—something he picked up from his character Maxie, who’s a little too supportive to the point of cheering on Cha’s bad decisions—is that even best friends shouldn’t tolerate each other’s mistakes, especially when it hurts other people. Jameson agreed, adding, "Sometimes we're afraid to speak up to our friend if they're wrong. Sometimes we just let it pass kasi you don't want to hurt their feelings... But it will show that you’re a great friend if you actually speak up or tell them if they're wrong at some point."
