As January comes to an end, “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” made sure to deliver scenes that would make us more excited to see what is yet to come in February and beyond through the previous week’s (January 27 to January 31) episodes.

The week commenced with Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro) and the Red Phoenix reveling in his rise as the new leader of the group, except for Santino (Ronwaldo Martin), who was obviously unhappy since it was him who was tasked to kill their previous frontrunner, Angkong (Joonee Gamboa). But Lucio, whom he considers as his second father, consoled him by saying that he just only proved his loyalty and reminded him that he needed to do that to save the group from its impending downfall under the leadership of the late old man.

Viewers were arguably shocked by Santino’s livid reaction upon learning that his Kuya Tanggol (Coco Martin) came back to Quiapo and fatally beat up Rigor (John Estrada), since we knew how much he abhorred his father and even wished him dead instead of Noy (Lou Veloso). His anger further escalated after Tindeng (Charo Santos) imparted to him that the real reason behind it was that Tanggol already found out that Rigor is actually not his biological father. Santino expressed his wrath on Tanggol and vowed to make him pay when something worse would happen to Rigor, who he now aims to protect.

Santino immediately went to the hospital to check on his father and speak to his mother, who asked him not to sow anger on his Kuya Tanggol and reminded him that he’s still part of their family. Fueled by rage, Santino expressed regret for looking up to Tanggol and vowed revenge against his brother for attacking Rigor.

Meanwhile, Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and David (McCoy de Leon) figured in a nail-biting brawl after the former chastised the latter, thinking that he was the Tanggol who ran amok in Quiapo. This alarmed David and prompted him to think of ways to stop Ramon from crossing paths with the real Tanggol.

Tanggol and his friends headed straight to their headquarters after his bloody brawl with Rigor. As Madonna (Kim Domingo) mentioned to them, she knows Ramon since her former boss, Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas), used to do business with him and that he’s really a rich and influential man since he’s a big-time drug lord. Divina (Rosanna Roces) chimed in, suggesting that they ask the help of General Pacheco for them to be able to easily find Ramon.

On the other hand, an intense altercation suddenly erupted among the group of Primo (Lito Lapid) as they pointed fingers at each other on who should be blamed after what happened at the gambling den that led to deaths and the capture of Amanda (Lorna Tolentino). Divina relayed to Tanggol about her group’s encounter with Primo’s league and brainwashed him into believing that they would never do him and his friends good, not to mention that they’ve already considered them as allies.

After his conversation with Gen. Pacheco through the phone of Amanda, whom they abducted, Primo enjoined his group to act fast and save his beloved woman. And speaking of Gen. Pacheco, he went to the hideout of Tanggol and Divina’s group the following day to convey his wish to get rid of Rigor, who mercilessly attacked him while attending to Amanda. However, Tanggol said that he had already done it for him the night before and then subsequently struck a deal with him after he joined his plan of killing the Mamba Cartel in their next transaction in exchange for information about his real father.

Ramon once again lashed out at David upon learning from Marites (Cherry Pie Picace) via phone call that Tanggol further wreaked havoc at Quiapo by fatally assaulting Rigor. Despite being stunned by what he just heard, David still got to exhibit his acting chops by coming up with reasons on why he beat up the man he calls his father after pleading with Ramon not to pursue his plan of killing Rigor.

As they arrived at the hospital, David managed to hinder Ramon from going out of the car and confronted Santino and Marites about what Tanggol did to Rigor. He exaggeratedly reacted upon his mom’s revelation about Tanggol’s motivation in doing so and pinned the blame on her again. He even threatened to get back at them when something bad happened to his father.

While both the groups of Tanggol and Primo were preparing for the battles they were about to get into, little did they know that Gen. Pacheco was actually planning to finish them off along with Mamba Cartel to achieve his aspiration of getting promoted to becoming a three-star general.

Scrambling to stop the highly anticipated reunion of Ramon and Tanggol, David devised a secret plan to kill Ramon with the help of a group of goons that he hired.
