Misunderstandings or quarrels among siblings are arguably inevitable, right? But the ones that transpired between Tanggol (Coco Martin) and his younger half-brother David (McCoy De Leon) of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” were definitely on the next level, as those didn’t only involve scorching spats but also intense exchanges of punches and holding one another up with a gun.

As we look forward to seeing their next face-off, especially now that David’s deception towards the Montenegros is likely to get exposed soon, let’s look back on five of their most riveting confrontations in the past in this edition of Friday 5.

While they seemed to have a cordial bond back when they were still kids, their relationship became hostile now that both of them are already grown-ups. Apparently, their first-ever squabble that we got to witness was when Tanggol found out that it was David who stole his hard-earned money and deliberately spent it. Tanggol obviously got fuming mad about it, so he mercilessly and incessantly threw punches at David even when the latter was already severely wounded and bloodied, as well as pleaded for him to stop.

Stricken by conscience, Tanggol apologized to David when they bumped into each other and explained that he was just stirred by his emotions. Besides, he also handed David some cash to help with the expenses of his then-pregnant girlfriend, Camille (Yukii Takahashi). However, David refused to accept both his apologies and money, as well as wished for him to be finally arrested by the authorities.

Their next encounter was when Tanggol went home after being incarcerated, and David welcomed him by punching him and pointing his gun at him. Tanggol tried to talk to him diplomatically as he asserted that he was legally set free and didn’t escape, but those fell on deaf ears as David continued to assault him and even called Rigor (John Estrada), who was just in the other room. As we all know, it resulted in a dramatic end as Tanggol refused to fight back while being beaten up by Rigor and being asked by his mother, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), to already leave to not make matters worse.

David once again attempted to kill Tanggol by running his car over him as he chanced upon him on a random street, but Tanggol was agile and alert enough to escape death. Seeing that Tanggol was brandishing a bolo, David took his gun as he alighted from his car and pointed it at Tanggol. As Tanggol’s companions Ben (Mark Lapid) and Berting (Joey Marquez) warned that they would also shoot him once he pulled the trigger at Tanggol, David retreated and told him that they would have him killed in their next encounter.

And lastly, driven by jealousy upon catching Katherine (Ara Davao) speaking with Tanggol within the premises of the Caballero mansion, David quickly came to him and punched at him. Tanggol hit back by pointing a gun at him and castigating him for repeating the same mistake committed by their father upon hearing David utter, “Akin lang si Katherine.” Luckily for David, Tanggol saw one of the roving police vehicles that compelled him to recoil and run away.

Will David’s “maliligayang araw” as fake Jesus Montenegro be over soon? Let’s all find out by not missing an episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” weeknights at 8 PM, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
