And this 2024, five thrilling segments were unveiled, namely “Tumpakners,” “Me Choose, Me Choose,” “Karaokids,” “Showing Bulilit,” and “Bata Bata Pick.” As we’re about to bid this prolific year goodbye, let’s look back on how it brought joy and amusement to us in this episode of Showtime Toplist!

The first game to be introduced was “Tumpakners”, which began in November 2023 and went on ‘til early 2024. In this game, the hosts were divided into two groups, with one pair from each who must provide the same answer in the category given by the game masters. We had witnessed tons of droll moments among the hosts as they battled it out to outdo their opponents and compel the losing team to the madlang people.

While everything was simply for fun, there were instances when things got a bit serious as the players sometimes had to explain their responses, such as why Vice Ganda and Vhong Navarro uttered broccoli to the “gulay sa kantang Bahay Kubo” question and why Ryan Bang exclaimed “sinigang” for both the “pulutan sa inuman” and “crispy food” questions.

Another game which was launched in late 2023 and continued until early this year was “Me Choose, Me Choose.” In this game, each host was paired with a madlang contestant. Whoever the last man/woman standing would be proclaimed the winner and would play in the jackpot round, in which one had the chance to take home a certain cash prize ranging from P10 to P100,000.

Aside from waiting to see whether the remaining contestant for an episode would win the pot money or not, we also looked forward to the hilarious moments of the hosts with one another or with the contestants. Among the funny mishaps that we’d witnessed was that of Kim Chiu accidentally breaking the box assigned to her in a certain episode.

The third one was the “Karaokids,” in which a pair of hosts must guess the song being listened to by the Showtime Kids through their earphones and being sang by them, too. Whoever won the first round would play in the second round, in which the jackpot prizes were given away personally by a chosen host to the madlang people from various sectors in the country.

While there were instances when the hosts were able to get the correct answers immediately, there were times when they found it hard to figure out the title of several songs. We saw how Anne Curtis struggled to guess Miley Cyrus’ “Angels Like You” that made them set a new record, as well as how none of the hosts and their celebrity guest JC de Vera knew about “Istorya” by Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. However, the elation and excitement were really felt once they’re able to decipher the gibberish lyrics being sang by the Showtime Kids.

Speaking of Showtime Kids, they were able to further win our hearts over with their acting chops in the “Showing Bulilit” segment. In this game, they had to reenact the most unforgettable scenes from various local and international movies and series that were screened through the years, which titles the host must guess.

But aside from the delight of seeing the Showtime Kids impressively portray a variety of roles and engage in acting showdowns, as well as the thrill brought by watching the race of the hosts in taking their turns to answer, we also enjoy the Showtime fam’s harutan and kulitan moments before and during the game.

And last July, the noontime program launched the “Bata Bata Pick” segment, in which the designated game master had to draw a player and an "alay" from the pool of players. The player would then choose his bet from a pair of Showtime kids, who would face off in a simple challenge. The fate of the “alay” depended on the performance of the chosen kid because he/she would receive a naughty “FUNishment” once the “bata” lost, while he/she would be safe and a P10,000 cash prize would be given to lucky studio audiences.
