In 2024, "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" has delivered some of the most shocking goodbyes we’ve seen on screen. While we had to bid farewell to beloved characters, the show also gave us the kind of justice we've all been waiting for, with ‘kontrabidas’ we loved to hate meeting their well-deserved ends. 

Here’s a breakdown of the characters whose exits left us heartbroken, satisfied, or even a little bit both this year! 

The year 2024 started with a bang for "FPJ's Batang Quiapo"—literally—when Mokang (Lovi Poe), Tanggol’s (Coco Martin) one true love and leading lady, met an untimely and tragic end that no one saw coming in the January 4 episode. In the record-breaking episode, Mokang’s reunion with Tanggol was cut short by a deadly shootout with her husband, Ramon/Albert (Christopher de Leon), who was determined to take her back. To make matters worse, Olga (Irma Adlawan) entered the fray, fueled by vengeance for her son Greg (RK Bagatsing), whom Tanggol had killed. Just when it seemed like Tanggol was about to meet his end, Mokang made the ultimate sacrifice by taking the bullet meant for him. Her death was a gut-wrenching testament to love and left audiences reeling from the emotional impact.

February delivered a gruesome yet satisfying death when Bong (Vandolph Quizon) met his demise in the midst of chaos inside the correctional facility. Bong, who had caused endless trouble, crossed a line when he attempted to assault Tanggol’s friend, Bubbles (Ivana Alawi), thus Tanggol made sure to put an end to his reign of terror.

And just when we thought Bubbles would finally be the one to mend Tanggol's heart, tragedy struck again. Bubbles met her untimely death after being shot by David (McCoy de Leon). The heartbreak was doubled when, at the same time, her beloved adoptive grandfather, Celso (Soliman Cruz), was also killed in the shootout during David’s group’s attack on their community. Bubbles and Celso never got the chance to reunite, leaving viewers devastated.

Fans were left in shock when Camille (Yukii Takahashi) lost her life—and her unborn child—due to her boyfriend, David's series of evil acts. What happened was she tumbled down the church stairs while trying to stop David and Katherine’s (Ara Davao) wedding.  Camille was rushed to the hospital, but, in a chilling turn of events, David himself sneaked into the ICU to end Camille’s life by suffocating her with a pillow.

Also this year, the entire Caballero family was brutally wiped out by their rivals, the Montenegros. In a  sequence of shootouts, physical brawl, and all sorts of bloody confrontations, the Montenegros stormed the Caballero mansion and murdered everyone in sight. Olga (Irma Adlawan) delivered fatal shots to Bettina (Tessie Tomas) and Katherine, while David personally took down Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas). The bloody family war also claimed the lives of Juancho (John Rendez) and their loyal housemaid, Pacing (Malou Crisologo).

The chaos didn’t stop there. Ramon savagely ended Marcelo’s (Nonie Buencamino) life with multiple gunshots before slashing his neck. This was after Marcelo betrayed his boss, Don Facundo, after discovering that Bubbles was his daughter and that a Caballero—Pablo (Elijah Canlas)—had tormented her. 

Previously, Tanggol, seeking revenge for Bubbles’ death, also horrifyingly killed Pablo and his sidekick Ruben (Yce Navarro), upon learning that Pablo sexually assaulted Bubbles. 

More casualties followed amid the crossfire between the Caballeros, Montenegros, and Tanggol’s group. Elsa (Ate Gay) was hit by a bullet while trying to escape. The massacre also ended Lt. Macasantos (Lao Rodriguez) and Dante (Dan Alvaro), both of whom were Marcelo’s allies.

David claimed several lives this year, including Severino (Dindo Arroyo), Ramon’s trusted right-hand man. Severino was the first to discover David’s deception, so David didn't hesitate to kill him in order to protect his schemes.

The death of Coach Gary (Levi Ignacio) was especially heartbreaking, given his role as a supportive mentor to Santino (Ronwaldo Martin). Adding to the tragedy, the real mastermind, Lawrence (Paolo Gumabao), who killed him after stealing money, twisted the truth and framed Santino as the one responsible for the boxing coach’s death.

Until the end, Bullet (Renz Fernandez) proved his loyalty to David and the Caballeros, sacrificing his life amidst the fight involving their camp. However, the most surprising twist in his death was that no one expected Santino to be the one to kill Bullet in self-defense and to save Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro).

The series also featured intense death scenes involving the group of carjackers—Tisay (Barbie Imperial), Regie (William Martinez), Michael (Anjo Yllana), and Derek (Maverick Relova). None of them escaped the wrath of Tanggol's group, who punished them for stealing and scheming. 

This year also saw the demise of several other characters, including Yolly (Deborah Sun), Mulong (Val Iglesias), and Olga's loyal henchmen, Diego (Ivan Carapiet) and Paquito (Paolo Serrano).

Before the year ended, audiences were shaken by the horrifying death of the beloved character Noy, played by Lou Veloso, one of the original cast members of the series. Many expected his character’s departure to be due to his battle with cancer, but instead, Noy met a brutal end. He was stabbed multiple times by the deranged Lena (Mercedes Cabral), who then stuffed his body into a suitcase. 

However, karma didn’t take long to catch up with Lena. Just a few episodes later, viewers were relieved to see the demise of one of the most hated characters in the show. Lena was shot dead by her own lover, Rigor (John Estrada), during her attempt to stab Rigor’s legal wife, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), and Marites’ mother, Tindeng (Charo Santos).
