LOOK: Team Anne and Mariel thrills with impressive acrobatic, death-defying, aerial show for Magpasikat 2018

Minutes before their much-awaited act on the third day of <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">It’s Showtime</a>’s Magpasikat week, Anne Curtis and Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla immediately gave us a hint that theirs was going to be festive, as what the set-up of their dressing room suggested when their co-hosts dropped by to take a peek of their pre-show preparations.As the enormous red curtain was rolled sideways and the VTR of the Team Anne-Mariel was flashed on the screen, it was revealed that they are going to do something fantastic inspired by the hit Hollywood flick The Greatest Showman – from dubbing their production number as “The Greatest ShowMa-Anne” to transforming the stage into a mini circus.Clad in a shimmering costume, Hashtag Jameson Blake stood as the eloquent presenter of the dazzling spectacle, introducing every segment of it. It commenced with the whole ensemble dancing simultaneously, with the ladies GirlTrend Sammie Rimando, Anne, and Mariel stunning us with their glittery sexy outfits and Hashtag members Tom Doromal, Ryle Tan, and Kid Yambao swooning us in their black and red costumes.Tagged as the “Dangerous Darling”, GirlTrend Sammie amazed everyone with how confident she was in doing the aerial dance as she flawlessly twirled and bent her body mid-air with the help of a huge purple sling. Despite of being acrophobic, she was able to conquer it and finished her part with a wide smile.Afterwards, the three guys stepped on the stage one-by-one and showed everyone the tricks they learned after their short training on slacklining and nailed it! They were able to maintain their balance as they repeatedly walked and jumped along the suspended length of a flat firmly woven fabric.Then Anne and Mariel’s portion ensued, with them gracefully dancing to “Rewrite the Stars,” a song from the aforementioned flick’s official soundtrack while hanging by a customized chandelier up in the air. Since Anne has been doing daredevil performances like this in her past Magpasikat entries, we’re certain that she’s going to make it. But Mariel, who just had her debut in the annual showdown this year, astonished the spectators with how she braved their leader’s death-defying initiation for her. Even her action star husband Robin Padilla, who was then watching on the front row, was dumbfounded as well with how mesmerizing and fierce she was.Apart from the chandelier act, they also did the aerial cloth dance with Anne injecting a heart-stopping twist on it, finishing her routine by plummeting upside down. As Mariel took her turn, everyone seemed to stop breathing as we anticipated if she’s going to do the same, but she didn’t. Instead, she capped the extraordinary show swinging on mid-air and giving us a finger heart.All were stunned and amazed, especially Robin, who took to the stage to congratulate Mariel and the team for the breathtaking act.Will Anne, Mariel, and the rest of the crew take home the highly coveted Magpasikat trophy this year?
