Since around half of their roster hails from provinces in Visayas and Mindanao and speaks Bisaya, it can be recalled that Kuya once tasked the housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11” to create an original Bisaya-Tagalog musical play entitled “BisTag ang Pinoy: The Musical,” in which they had to perform six songs in both Tagalog and Bisaya. And they were able to successfully pull it off!

As if their knowledge and exposure to the Bisaya language are not yet enough, “PBB Gen 11” housemates JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith recently had a 101 Bisaya lesson with “Kuan on One” host Melai Cantiveros.

Of course, many relationships start with being friends, so Melai started with the word “friend,” which is “amigo” (male) and “amiga” (female) in Bisaya. Then there’s attraction, so if they want to praise each other's good looks JM and Fyang can regard one another as “gwapo” (male) and “gwapa” (female).

She also taught them two translations of the word “love,” which are “palangga” or “pangga” in Ilonggo and “gugma” in Cebuano. Kuantie Melai went on to impart that she calls her own husband, Jason Francisco, “Ga” especially when she’s fond of him. She also taught them the proper way of saying “minamahal kita” in Cebuano, which is “gihigugma tika.”

Since expressing one’s love should come from the “heart,” she also shared its Bisaya counterpart, which is “kasing-kasing.”

And lastly, with avid shippers of their team-up probably wishing for JM and Fyang to end with one another someday, it’s also good if they will know the Bisaya translation of the words “boyfriend/girlfriend” and “spouse.” Similar to “friend,” “spouse” has two different translations based on gender, with “asawa” for wife and “bana” for husband. Meanwhile, Big Winner Fyang already knows that “boyfriend/girlfriend” is “uyab” in Bisaya after some of her fans mentioned it to her in the past.
