Could a sin of the past really be erased by an apology? Avid viewers of “FPJ's Batang Quiapo” know all too well the weight of a terrible past that hangs between Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and Marites (Cherry Pie Picache). Now, after all these years, Ramon is trying to make amends for the sake of their son. But how does one even begin to atone for such a crime?

 Their unlikely reunion happened when Marites was kidnapped by Olga (Irma Adlawan), who pretended to be a friend but was bent on taking revenge on Marites' son, Tanggol (Coco Martin). During the chaos, Marites managed to free herself from her captors and escape, only to unexpectedly run into Ramon, who was caught in a shootout with the Red Phoenix syndicate in an abandoned building. He let her escape first, but she decided to rush the wounded Ramon to the nearest clinic, even though she knew he was the man who had sexually abused her years earlier and the biological father of Tanggol.

 In their conversation at the clinic, Ramon earnestly told Marites that he wanted to fix their son Tanggol’s life. But neither of them knew that the 'Tanggol' standing by Ramon was actually David (McCoy de Leon), who was pretending to be him.

 In the following events, Ramon secretly covered Marites' hospital expenses after she was rushed in due to a stabbing incident. He also visited her in her room, bringing her flowers and expressing his deep desire to make amends, knowing how much he had ruined her life. However, she pushed him away, fearful that their conversation might spark chaos if anyone, especially her husband, Rigor (John Estrada), would see them together.

 Ramon became more determined, though, even following Marites to her place in Quiapo. However, she kept running away, fearing someone might spot them together and discover their past connection. Using his influence, Ramon found a way to corner Marites and try to convince her to give him a chance to make things right. But for her, the best way he could atone for his past actions was to completely disappear from her life. His presence would only make things worse, especially with her already troubled marriage to Rigor. On top of that, she was angry, believing that he was teaching Tanggol nothing but evil. 

 Desperate to talk to her, Ramon pretended to be a buyer interested in Marites' items that she was selling outside Quiapo Church and arranged a meet-up for the transaction. Thus, she was furious when she realized he had pretended to be a buyer. 

 Frustrated, she got emotional and shared with Ramon how the crime he committed against her years ago had completely ruined her life and her marriage to Rigor. She explained that, because of what happened, she’d been enduring Rigor’s mistreatment, even accepting the fact that he brought another woman into their home. This confession left Ramon feeling deeply guilty for what he had done to her.

 Marites left, but as she was crossing the street, distracted by all the problems on her mind, she accidentally bumped into a car. The angry driver was about to lash out when Ramon stepped in and saved her. Feeling indebted, she reluctantly agreed to meet Ramon and talk. He took her to an expensive restaurant, where he apologized again. But she remained firm, telling him they shouldn’t have any more connection and that she doesn’t know if she could ever forgive him. Ramon responded that if it would take forever to earn her forgiveness, he’d be willing to do it. Before she was able to leave, he told her, "I hope you realize your worth," hinting that Marites deserves better than the pain Rigor is causing her.

 This was followed by a secret meeting where Marites opened up about the pain she feels as a mother because of Tanggol. Both of them, however, were still unaware that they were talking about two different Tanggol. Well, Ramon, said something meaningful when he asked Marites to keep her anger only towards him and not pass it on to their innocent son.
