Püpa disclosed that she combined Filipino, English, and Ilonggo words to portray the infuriation with taking risks and moving forward while also desiring to stay grounded and in her comfort zone.

“I wrote it when I was torn between chasing my dreams and my longing for home. My frustration is a constant push and pull. Some days, it overshadows my whole being and mapapa-’DPTA’ ka na lang talaga,” she added.

The track was written by Püpa herself and produced by Ken Ponce, the brother and producer for former Coldplay opening act jikamarie.

Hailing from Roxas City, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter mergess traditional pop and Asian pop in her music and also dabbles into indie and alternative genres. She was known as the pop-rock standard bearer for a time in a season of The Clash. Prior to “DPTA”, Püpa has released songs “Dead Flower,” “Dumbfounded,” “Make Me,” and “heels” mostly independently.
