BACKGROUNDER. Maymay Entrata has just dropped the highly-anticipated single “Paradise,” an empowering dance-pop song fortified with towering vocals, penetratingly straightforward confrontational lyrics, and a tantalizing beat. 

The song's official music video directed by John Manalo of Chapters PH has garnered over 212,000 views less than four days since it's release. The pulsating MV music video features two visions of paradise with clashing notions of happiness between two people.  

“Paradise” was composed by 2025 GRAMMYs’ Songwriter of the Year Amy Allen, whose body of work includes collaborations with several international artists such as Justin Timberlake, Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae, and Olivia Rodrigo.

It delves into the affecting repercussion of a separation, recounting one’s journey from attempting to rescue a love to letting go and understanding one’s self-worth.

“The first step to enter 'Paradise' is realizing that you’re worthy. This song comes from the bottom of my heart po and I hope it speaks to yours,” said Maymay on her official Instagram page.  

Maymay is one of ABS-CBN’s rising global acts and is the voice behind the viral single “Amakabogera,” which earned Song of the Year at the LionhearTV RAWR Awards and over 10 million Spotify streams. An English language of the track entitled “Amafilipina” was performed by modern Filipina drag royalty Marina Summers on Drag Race UK Vs. the World Series 2. At the same time, its music video has amassed over 27 million YouTube plays. Her other hits include “Kakayanin Kaya,” her version of the Viktoria classic “Puede Ba,” "Autodeadma" feat. Wooseok of Pentagon and “Tsada Mahigugma.”

REVIEW. The musical arrangements are cool and laidback, but lyrically the song is confrontational and questioning. It's been a while since her pre-"Kakayanin Kita" days since she's had a straight-up no frills pop song, so you can consider this as an acid test of sorts for Maymay. Her past slew of hits had bells and whistles such as the beauty and drag queen pageantry and bombast of "Amakabogera", the festive retro of "Puede Ba?" with Viktoria, the multi-language lyricism of "Tsada Mahigugma" and "Autodeadma"; and star-studded collaborators and cover performers (Wooseok of unisex kpop stars Pentagon, and the aforementioned likes of Marina Summers and Viktoria). Let's see how Maymay does as a straight-up pop artist on the global stage. If this track is any indication, she should do great. RATING: 4 out of 5.
