A new co-ed group is poised to enter the K-pop scene, a rare move in an industry largely dominated by single-gender acts.

Adding to the intrigue, the act's lineup features familiar faces that some fans are sure to recognize.

The Black Label, the entertainment company helmed by renowned producer Teddy Park—known for crafting hits for 2NE1 and Blackpink—recently announced the debut of its new five-member group Allday Project.

Apart from being backed by a prominent label, Allday Project has also generated buzz for its members, which includes well-known trainees already familiar to K-pop fans.

Among them is Bailey Sok, a Korean-American choreographer known for her work with major artists such as BIGBANG's Taeyang, BLACKPINK's Lisa, Red Velvet and aespa.

"When I was choreographing for K-pop, I was always really excited but then at the same time, I was always, 'I wanna do more as a choreographer,'" Bailey said in a video on Allday Project's YouTube channel, where the members discussed their entry into the industry and the challenges they have faced.

"I couldn't help but choreograph but then also visualize myself as the artist. And then I ended up here, taking it on," added Bailey, who described her upcoming debut as a "full-circle moment."

Also making headlines in South Korea is Moon Seo-yoon, who goes by the stage name Annie. She is an heiress to the Shinsegae conglomerate and the granddaughter of the group's chairwoman Lee Myung-hee, according to reports.

Rumors surrounding Annie's debut have circulated for some time, as she was originally slated to join The Black Label's girl group Meovv.

In the video, Annie shared that her family initially opposed her dream of becoming a singer.

"Because getting even a step closer to this debut opportunity was something I wanted so badly, I worked even harder every single day and that's how I could be so fiercely dedicated," Annie said.

Fans may also recognize Lee Young-seo, a contestant on the 2023 survival program "R U Next?". She placed among the top six finalists selected to debut in ILLIT, but ultimately left the group before their official debut.

He first gained public attention as a contestant on the rap competition show "Show Me the Money 6," and later as part of Trainee A, a pre-debut boy group under BigHit Music, the label behind K-pop supergroup BTS.

Rounding out the five-piece band is Lee Chae-won, who performs under the stage name Tarzzan, a contemporary dancer and model with a passion for hip-hop music.

Allday Project is set to officially debut on June 23 with the single "Famous," though the music video for the track will be released in advance on June 16.

The quintet joins a small roster of co-ed groups in the K-pop industry, where the most prominent example is arguably the four-member group KARD. Another mixed-gender act, Checkmate, debuted in 2020 but disbanded after just a year.

Allday Project is also the second group to be formed by The Black Label following Meovv. The company also manages BIGBANG's Taeyang, Blackpink's Rosé and soloist Jeon Somi.
