MANILA -- The best song will finally be named at the upcoming finals night of songwriting festival Philpop Himig Handog.

The finale is set to happen this March 22 at 5 p.m. at the New Frontier Theater.

Details for the ticket selling are yet to be announced.



It was July last year when the Top 12 songs of Philpop Himig Handog have been released. The songs and its music videos were uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Star Music.

The songs competing at Philpop Himig Handog are: “ATM” composed by Francis Contemplacion, interpreted by Ice Seguerra; “Buhi” composed by Keith John Quito, interpreted by Ferdinand Aragon; “Dili na lang” composed by Relden Campanilla, interpreted by Jolianne; “Ghostwriter” composed by Kevin Sumalde Yadao, interpreted by KHIMO; “Kurba” composed by Alvin Serito, interpreted by Maki and “Langit Lupa” by Geca Morales, interpreted by Lyka Estrella, Annarain, Geca Morales.

The other six songs are: “MHWG” by Rob Angeles, interpreted by VXON;  “Papahiram” composed by Rinz Ruiz, interpreted by Moira ft. Johnoy Danao; “Salamat (Nga Wala Na Ta)” composed by Jimmy Ricks Grajo, interpreted by Kurt Fick;  “Taliwala” composed by Maric Gavino, interpreted by Noah Alejandre; “Tulala” composed by Shantel Cyline Lapatha, Interpreted by Shantel cyline and Extrapolation; and “Wag Paglaruan” composed by Tiara Shaye, interpreted by FANA ft. Tiara Shaye.

Philpop Himig Handog is an initiative of the Philpop Musicfest Foundation and Himig Handog, which began as a mentorship program that included workshops and songwriting sessions for budding Filipino composers from all over the country.

The winners will receive cash prizes of P1 million for first place, P500,000 for second place, and P200,000 for third place.
