MANILA -- Urbandub and Typecast, two of the Philippines’ most iconic rock bands, are marking their 25th anniversary with a joint concert tour and fresh music on the horizon.

In an interview, Gabby Alipe, vocalist and guitarist of Urbandub, and Steve Badiola, frontman of Typecast, shared their excitement about reuniting with fans through their joint anniversary tour, set to kick off on April 6 at the New Frontier Theater and continue on April 12 at the Baguio Convention Center.

“When we get a chance to play — regardless if they’re longtime fans or first-timers, maybe younger audience — we get excited to perform and share the music we’ve made,” Alipe said, reflecting on the band’s eagerness to return to the stage.

When asked how they continue to connect with a newer generation after more than two decades in the industry, Alipe said their focus remains on authenticity.

“We’re the type of artists who create music based on our experiences — the things we know, how we present our stories. If the audience, old or new, can relate to the songs and stories we’re telling, that’s the most important thing,” he said.

Badiola echoed the sentiment, saying, “Usually, our songs don’t really age — those emotions, kahit matanda, lolo, tito, kids, makaka-relate. That’s the kind of emotional connection we always try to tap into.”

As they celebrate their silver year in the industry, both bands are also gearing up for new releases.

“We’re working on our latest album. Medyo tumagal siya nang kaunti, pero excited kami kasi patapos na siya,” Badiola revealed.
