Maki recently launched the music video for his latest hit "Bughaw" on March 13.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Maki shared the inspiration behind the MV, which has already garnered over 100 thousand views as of this writing.

"Nakasama ko dito nga si Kyler from HORI7ON, Alexei (Abela), and si Zeke Abella. They're all my friends also. So naisip ko talaga to create a music video wherein we can showcase yung iba't iba ang kinds of love which is as 'Dilaw' nga is yung self-love, 'Namumula' is the passionate love, and then 'Bughaw' is the calm love that you feel for all the people who feel na parang kumbaga this is the love na parang nagsi-stay," he shared.

Maki also revealed that he was more hands-on with the filming of "Bughaw."

"So ako, I wanna, actually, ako yung nagdedirect kasama si Raliug. Actually, eto yung pinaka hands-on ako. Kasi nung 'Dilaw,' nagco-direct din ako, but for this time, sobra akong naging hands-on. Of course, with the collaboration from (Team) Lunchbox and si Direk Raliug,” he said.

Maki shared how much fun he had with his co-stars.

"Actually, ang saya nung shoot namin, lalo nung kami magkakasama ng apat sa mga shoot. Tapos, meron mga moments kasi ang hirap mag-direct at the same time nag-a-acting ka. So, may mga moments na parang nagla-lines kami tapos biglang dinidirect ko sila habang nagla-lines kami or nag-a-acting," he recalled.

The singer-songwriter also admitted feeling challenged, but he also enjoyed this new era in his career: "Medyo mahirap siya i-juggle, and it's a new area for me na gustong-gusto kong i-discover and explore, and I really enjoy it."

Memory is also one important element in "Bughaw," something Maki shared is personally significant to him.

“'Bughaw' is the kind of music video na I want people to relate to when they reminisce or whenever they feel like their childhood is missing na. O parang nawawala. Gusto kong pwede siyang balik-balikan, pwede siyang maalala. Kumbaga memories are meant to be made. Memories kasi ano siya sa akin, sobrang siyang importante. It's really essential to go back to your roots and to the people who inspired you to be the person you are now,” he explained.

Maki also mentioned how he wants to incorporate his own style as a visual artist into his music videos.

“Makikita niyo dito hanggang saan yung creativity venture ko, in making music videos. Kasi ako naniniwala na yung songs, iba siyang feeling pag may visuals. Kasi visual artist ako eh. Gusto ko ma-incorporate yun sa lahat ng music videos ko na may song comes with a visual,” he said.

Aside from his latest music video and upcoming album Kolorcoaster, Maki also showcased his creativity with a cute merch line called "Kima." The doll, a playful take on his name, was personally designed by Maki himself.

Fans can also catch Maki at the upcoming PhilPop x Himig Handog Songwriting Festival's finals night, set for March 22, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the New Frontier Theater. He will be interpreting "Kurbada," a song composed by Alvin Serito.
