South Korean boy band THE BOYZ released their third full-length album "Unexpected" on Monday, the same day leader Sangyeon began his mandatory military service.

"Unexpected" is the 11-member group's first musical project since departing IST Entertainment, the label that formed and debuted them in 2017, and signing with new agency One Hundred.

The package includes nine tracks, with "VVV" serving as the lead single.

Notably, the comeback is scheduled on the same day as Sangyeon enlisted in the military, becoming the first member of the team to fulfill his conscription.

Under South Korean law, most able-bodied men are required to perform around 18 to 21 months of military service.

The group posted on its X account photos of the members sending off their 28-year-old leader. Some of the members also shared snapshots from the event on their personal Instagram Stories.

THE BOYZ gained further popularity after winning the 2020 reality competition show "Road to Kingdom," earning them a spot in its sequel "Kingdom: Legendary War."

The group previously visited the Philippines in August 2024, staging their "Zeneration II" concert at the Mall of Asia Arena.
