South Korean star Choi Minho showcased his versatility as an artist during the Manila leg of his first solo concert tour, MEAN: Of My First, held on Sunday, March 16, at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

Presented by L-Squared Productions PH, the SHINee member reunited with his Filipino fans, delivering electrifying performances from his solo albums.

 Minho set the stage on fire with powerful renditions of “Would You Mind,” Affection,” “Came and Left Me,” “Fireworks,” and “Round Kick.”

 He opened the show with heartfelt greetings, saying, “Philippine SHINee World! (Did) you guys miss me? Miss you too! Hello everybody! I’m Minho of SHINee!”

He also introduced himself in Filipino, saying, “Kamusta? Ako si Minho.”

As he officially welcomed fans to his first solo concert tour, Minho expressed his excitement.

“Since I left you guys, this is my first solo concert, MEAN: of my First. Welcome to my show!” Minho said as per the show’s translator. 

Minho also took time to express his gratitude as he saw some fan events that his Filipino fans prepared for his visit.

“Thank you!” he expressed. “Simula pa lang may event na tayo for the fans kaya mainit na talaga emotion natin for the concert tonight.” 

He also praised the energy of his Filipino fans, saying, “Gustong-gusto ko talaga ‘yung mainit na energy at pati weather dito sa Pilipinas. Pero ‘yung mainit na energy made me fly high more para sa concert tonight.”

Minho also explained how he crafted the concert’s setlist

“‘Yung first concert ko includes the songs I really really like and of course the music style that I really really like as well. Nagpa-plano ako na hindi kayo mapagod sa concert ko so please don’t be tired. Sa first concert ko kasama natin ang band,” he stated.

He encouraged fans to keep their energy high and enjoy every performance. Given that Manila was the final stop on his tour, he promised to make the night extra special.

“Ngayon ay aking last stop para sa concert tour ko. Ang ganda ng energy and vibe natin para sa last stop, kaya ibibigay ko ang aking todo,” he remarked.

Minho performed the title tracks from his first mini and full-length albums, “Chase” and “CALL BACK”, showcasing his vocal and dance prowess. Fans were captivated by his performances of “Slow Down,” “I Don’t Miss You,” and “Runaway.”

Aside from his high-energy stages, Minho displayed his softer side with heartfelt performances of “Prove It,” “I’m Home, and “Stay For A night.”

During a talk segment, he admitted being momentarily distracted during one of his performances because of a surprise fan event.

“Nawala talaga ‘yung concentration kasi may mga fan events. Thank you to all fan events,” he said. “Maraming, maraming salamat po sa mga fan events and siyempre I told myself na maybe I do better much for my concert.”

Minho also gave fans a special moment by leading an a cappella sing-along of “Call Back”.

“At baka dahil last stop na natin na concert, grabe ang energy. Ibang klase!” he expressed.

As the night drew to a close, Minho continued to impress with soulful performances of “Because of U” and “Waterfall.” Living up to his “Flaming Charisma” nickname, he delivered striking performances of “Heartbreak” and “Something About U,” both fan favorites of the evening.

Minho also paid tribute to his journey as a SHINee member by performing “View” and “Body Rhythm,” much to the delight of longtime fans.

“Are you guys (having) fun? (Are you) enjoying the night? Me too!” he said, expressing his joy despite the bittersweet feeling of concluding his tour. 

“Baka dahil last stop na ito ng aking concert, medyo malungkot ako pero grabe ang saya-saya ko sa aking concert,” he added. “Kanina noong lumabas ako para mag-change ng aking outfit, kumanta kayo ng ‘Stay For A Night’. Thank you, thank you so much for singing!”

“Grabe! Ang saya!” Minho continued. “It is really, really a great day. A wonderful day. And it’s so sad  to finish the concert.”

Fans teased Minho, chanting “Walang uuwi” (Nobody leaves), to which he playfully responded by lying down on stage and saying, “Stay here? Okay. Stay here!”

Grateful for the love and support, Minho reassured his fans that he would return to the Philippines.

“Sa tingin ko talaga, I would come back to the Philippines very soon. I’m very. very, very happy tonight. Thank you! I love you!” he stated. “We have to treasure our unforgettable memories. I’m super happy right now.”

Minho went on: “I feel this and I realize this every time, you know, I receive a lot of positive energy from you guys and I will never let you down guys. With the trust that you give me, I will be the better SHINee Minho.”

For his encore, he performed an unreleased song, “You’re Right” and “Choice,” from his first mini album, wrapping up the night on an emotional high.

“I promise you, I’ll come back again. I love you! Everyone, you are always my hope. Siguradong-sigurado akong babalik ako rito and I’ll make unforgettable night (again).”

On SHINee’s official social media pages, Minho later expressed his appreciation, posting in Filipino: “Salamat sa pagsasaya kasama ko💙. Magkita tayo sa susunod. Mahal kita🩵.”

“MEAN: of my first to be treasured deeply in my heart,” said in another post as per Instagram translation.
