Singer Patrick Quiroz is thrilled to share his latest extended play (EP) album, Soft, which features covers of his favorite classic karaoke songs.

During the launch of one of the tracks on March 13, 2025, Patrick spoke with PUSH ABS-CBN about the songs he personally selected for the album.

“Itong mga ila-launch natin na tracks sa EP are classic songs na gagawin natin na tunog ngayon,” Patrick said. “These are like my personal picks actually, growing up, listening to these songs from my mom and dad.”

He fondly recalled jamming with his father as a child, saying, “Ito ‘yung mga songs na me and my dad would jam along to when I was a kid. I’m very excited about these.”

A self-proclaimed karaoke enthusiast, Patrick explained why he chose to create an album filled with covers of beloved classics.

“I do like karaoke, especially singing. Kapag sa condo ako mag-isa, I feel like it’s a way for me to train myself to sing and to vocalize also,” Patrick shared.

On March 14, just in time for his 25th birthday, Patrick released his cover of “More Than Words” by Extreme, a popular song from the 1990s.

Looking forward to the year ahead, he shared his birthday wish.

“I’m very excited also and ‘yung wish ko siguro, I feel like it has to be more work and more songs to be released soon,” he stated.

Aside from covering classic hits, Patrick is now exploring songwriting. He revealed that one of his original compositions will be released soon under EMI and Cornerstone Music.

“I will be releasing an original song. I don’t have a date yet, but it will come up soon under EMI and Cornerstone Music din,” he said.

Describing the song’s theme, he added, “I wrote about this song na, it’s this song na sinulat ko na words are kind of like a broken song, na parang you are in a relationship with someone, so it’s a love song.”

Focusing on his music career, Patrick expressed his admiration for Kapamilya singer Gary Valenciano, who has been a major influence on his musical career.

“Idol ko talaga sa pagkanta si Sir Gary V.” Patrick said. “He has really been my idol ever since. I always watch his show.”

As he performs ballads, RnB, and pop genres of music, Patrick got more inspiration from Gary.

“I watched his concert at the Music Museum. I was really excited. He has been so inspiring for me as an artist also and as someone I really look up to,” he shared.

Among his favorite ballads is Gary Valenciano’s “How Did You Know.”

“One of my favorite songs, especially ballads nga, is more like of Sir Gary V’s ‘How Did You Know‘. It’s one of my most picked songs talaga kapag kumakanta ako sa karaoke,” he added.

Patrick hopes to use his music to inspire and connect with people, just as his idol does.

“I want to reach more people and to inspire people of course. Si Sir Gary Valenciano is all about that also: to inspire people and to tell more stories through songs and through music” he said.
