BLACKPINK's Jennie shared the inspiration behind the name of her debut solo album, Ruby.

"It reminded me of the theater curtain, ruby red, and I wanted to open the curtain myself and introduce my new music to the world for the first time," she said in an interview with Vogue.

The singer got candid about her emotions leading to the release of her solo record.

"I'm going through an emotional roller coaster right now and every day has been different," she confessed.

"It's a moment that I've been dreaming of my whole life. And I'm really trying to hold everything inside so I can really enjoy it on the day of March 7th. I can't believe my album is here," she added.

Jennie highlighted that she was involved in every stage of Ruby's creation.

"Every little step has been different from my past music. I have been involved with every little steps and details of our whole creatives and the whole making process. I'm giving birth to my Ruby. It's definitely coming from my heart. A lot of it is personal too," the singer stated.

Jennie announced last January that she is releasing Ruby on March 7.

Ruby will include 15 tracks, including her October 2024 single “Mantra."

The album will feature several collaborations including Dua Lipa, Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, FKJ, and Kali Uchis.

In an interview with Billboard in January, the singer revealed that the songwriting in her upcoming record reflects her personal growth and experiences. "What I’ve experienced, what I resonate to or what I want in my life. That’s one other thing that’s changed from being in BLACKPINK, is that I get to say my message in my way," she said.

The K-pop star started working on the album in early 2024 and shared that the process is nearing completion. “I want to say I’m almost there,” she revealed.
