“In my now 14 years in the industry, there is so much advice that I have been able to pick up from icons,” said Morissette Amon in an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN.

She named iconic OPM singers such as Concert King Martin Nievera, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, and Mr Pure Energy Gary Valenciano as her inspirations.

“Ms. Reg is one of those people who just encouraged me to keep singing and to enjoy what I do, and even balance my life na hindi lang puro career but to also spend time with loved ones because even that is fleeting,” she shared.

One of the things that really stood out for Morissette was actually a comment from Gary Valenciano, mentioned to her during one performance they were in together.

“You know, there are two types of performers,” she recalled him saying. “‘Yung mga performers na nakaka-‘aww’, and ‘yung performers na nakaka-‘wow’. And it’s so rare to find artists like that, who are able to give the audience both of that.”

That comment stuck with her, and gave her an ideal to strive for.

“Ever since I heard that point of view, I decided to strive to be that kind of artist: ‘yung parang ‘wow’ na nai-impress ‘yung mga tao, but they also feel something. Na hindi lang puro birit lang o jammer lang, pero may puso pa rin every time kumakanta. And to be more of a storyteller,” she said.

With a clear goal in mind, Morissette aims to put both heart and soul into every project that comes her way.

“I am taking that to heart right now with the original music I am working on, and with the songs I have been working on with my collaborators,” she continued. “I just want to be that artist na kahit na marami nang napagdaanan sa buhay, pinili pa rin to keep going and hopefully be a great representation of Cebu, of VisMin, of the Philippines to the whole world.”

Even with over a decade of experience under her belt, Morissette is determined to keep going and keep growing.

“I am working on a lot of new material now and new music. I’m even going to be dropping a full-length album in the future,” she revealed. “There’s ‘Ihilak Lang Na’ as my latest single. It is in Bisaya. We also have worked on visualizers and a music video, up on my official YouTube channel.”

Morissette also shared that she worked on a movie titled Song of the Fireflies, a film that talks about the story of the Loboc Children’s Choir. It is set to have its Hollywood global release on March 6 and 7, 2025.

Another major event to look forward to this year is Morissette’s concert titled Ember, which will mark her 15th anniversary.

Ember is going to be my 15th anniversary concert. I’m going to be celebrating 15 years in the industry,” she said. “I am working on that and I will be posting details very, very soon. I want to make it very, very special and kaabang-abang talaga.”

While she has a lot of new music coming out, Morissette said that her concert would also include fan favorites as her concert is also meant as a gift of gratitude for the support her followers have given her through the years.

“Of course, I cannot forget about what happened to me in the past years, so I just wanted to pay homage to that. And siyempre, a lot of my supporters, doon talaga sila napamahal sa isang Morissette, and so I want to give back to them,” she added.
