Orange & Lemons gives The Carpenters' "Close To You" a modern, indie pop twist. Handout

OPM band Orange & Lemons released their rendition of The Carpenters' timeless hit "Close To You."

The band's modern, indie pop twist track is out now on various streaming music platforms worldwide via Lily Stars Records.

In a statement, lead vocalist and guitarist Clem Castro said one of the major distinctions from the original version is the absence of the transposition, which sets their band's cover apart from others.

The indie pop quartet reinterpreted "Close To You" with keyboard elements that elevate the track's melodic appeal.

"The guitar solo rolling bass lines, and drum pattern is definitely O&L," Castro added. "The buildup at the end was eargasm for us. It is safe to say, this is infinitely different from any version you can find on streaming sites."

This 2025, Orange & Lemons will hold an international tour.

The group will be in Singapore on March 2 and May 30 in Toronto. Other dates include May 31 in New York, June 6 in San Francisco, and June 7 in Los Angeles.

Formed in 1999, Orange & Lemons is known for OPM hits such as "Hanggang Kailan (Umuwi Ka Na Baby)" and "Heaven Knows (This Angel Has Flown)."

One of the band's biggest breaks happened in 2005 when they recorded "Pinoy Ako," the theme song of ABS-CBN's reality program "Pinoy Big Brother."
