These distinct tastes shine through in their latest group project, the extended play (EP) “Winter Heptagon” — a record that member Jackson describes as a blend of collective and individual artistry.

“This album contains songs produced by each of the members. We have high expectations for it, as it not only features GOT7’s music, but also the distinctive musical colors each of us represents,” Jackson said in a Q&A shared by Kakao Entertainment, the agency that GOT7 partnered with for the EP.

“I am especially grateful to our leader [Jay B], who has guided us to be here together,” Jackson added.

Released on Tuesday, the nine-track “Winter Heptagon” marks GOT7’s first new music in over three years.

All seven members contributed to the EP’s creative process. BamBam took the helm as producer of the lead single, “Python,” and contributed to “Tidal Wave.” Jackson and Youngjae were credited under “Smooth” and “Our Youth,” respectively.

Yugyeom served as lyricist and co-composer of “Remember,” while Jay B took the lead on “Darling.” Mark and Jinyoung also worked on “Out The Door” and “Her,” respectively.

The EP closes with the poignant fan song “Yours Truly,” composed by Jay B and with all of the members participating in writing the lyrics.

“‘Winter Heptagon’ represents the idea that while each of us can shine on our own, we shine even brighter when we come together in winter,” Jay B said, adding that the title also references the group’s winter debut in January 2014.

Mark said all of the members “are so happy and thrilled to make a comeback as GOT7.”

“We actually wanted to return earlier, but it took some time due to certain circumstances. We are working hard to meet our fans after such a long time,” he said.

Below is the rest of the Q&A with GOT7.

Q: Following the album’s release, GOT7 will appear on various music shows and stage the “NESTFEST” concert. What can fans expect?

Jinyoung: We will do our best in every way so that we and our fans can look back on this time and the concert as “hot and happy” moments in the future. We will meet our followers through various content that we have been preparing and we are excited for its release. We cannot wait to meet our fans soon.

Q: This year marks the 11th anniversary of GOT7’s debut. What has driven you to perform as a full group for such a long time? As you approach your 12th year in your career, do you feel any new sense of responsibility or emotions?

Youngjae: Our fans who support us are the driving force behind our continued unity. We still enjoy being together as a group, too. As I approach my 12th year in my singing career, and as a member of GOT7, I always try to take responsibility for everything. The team is one, so I think taking care of and protecting myself is equivalent to taking care of and protecting the team.

Q: As a group that continues to enjoy popularity, what is GOT7’s next goal?

BamBam: Our next goal might be to hold stadium concerts. We want to perform in front of even more fans.

Q: Please send a message to Ahgase.

Yugyeom: Just as you have continued to send us love, we will also do our best to keep repaying your love. So, please keep your eyes on us. Ahgase, we appreciate and love you so much, and we support you, too!
