Filipino American rapper Ez Mil, whose real name is Ezekiel Miller, shared his memorable experience meeting international rapper Eminem for the first time

During the media conference for V1be Manila 2024 concert, Ez Mil couldn’t help but relive the first words Eminem told him.

“He is so humble. I was so star struck when I met him,” Ez Mil shared. “Just the fact that right when I walk in the studio, he stood up and said ‘Ezekiel, where have you been in the last 20 years?’ (I said) I was like 4, bro.’.”

Ez Mil expressed how he admired Eminem for being grounded and professional in his craft despite his worldwide popularity and success.

“He is just so humble. That surprised me. His head is not in the clouds. He is really just a stout guy. (He) raps really good,” he remarked.

Though he doesn’t typically take advice, Ez Mil shared Eminem’s advice that stuck with him.

“Actually, I don’t take advice that often but one that really stuck from me is actually from Sir Eminem. He said stay authentic, stay you. Just keep doing your thing,” he shared.

The “Panalo” hitmaker also emphasized his commitment to continuous self-improvement.

“Every day I strive to be better than I was yesterday. I just want to push myself forward because we never know what tomorrow holds. I just keep an open mind,” he remarked.

Last year, Ez Mil announced he had signed record deals with three major labels: Eminem's Shady Records, Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records.

In an article from Eminem’s official Shady Records website, the American rapper personally came across Ez Mil’s music online and introduced him to another iconic rapper Dr. Dre.

“We’ve never been out there signing a lot of artists, and one of the great things about how we built Shady is how selective we’ve been,” Eminem said.

“And it’s even rarer that Dre and I sign something together – but I heard Ez’s music and was like, ‘This is really special’ so I took it to Dre. We both agreed it would be a great fit and we wanted to work with him right on the spot,” he added.

Dr. Dre also expressed, ““I’m really only interested in working on s**t that sounds different from anything else going on out there, and only then if I feel I can really bring something to it. Em played me Ez and I had that feeling… that thing that happens when we both know we’ve found something special. And that was it…. let’s get to work.”

Meanwhile, Ez Mil shared what inspired him to try incorporating different genres with his music.

“I guess it just depends on what I feel at the moment as well. I just look at music like that and all the different genres really convey different specific emotions like listening to mellow when you are mad or rap or jazz when you are trying to chill out or reggae as well,” he expressed.

In July, Ez Mil was featured on Eminem's album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) with a track titled “Head Honcho,” which includes a Filipino rap.

In August, Ez Mil released a new single, “Realest,” featuring Eminem. He also dropped his sophomore album DU4LI7Y: REDUX in the same month.
