Filipino girl group BINI and LA-based Indonesian singer and songwriter AGNEZ MO shared their experience of collaborating on BINI’s song “Cherry On Top.”

In an exclusive interview with PUSH, Aiah explained how overwhelming it was for the group to work with an international artist like AGNEZ MO.

“We were very surprised because we cannot believe we will be able to collaborate with someone who is way up there and us, BINI, we have just started that being on the global scene. We were pressured,” BINI Aiah revealed.

Despite getting nervous, the members saw this collaboration as a valuable opportunity for growth.

“But when we got to meet Ms. AGNEZ MO, it felt like there was more motivation for us to keep pushing more even if the global stage scene was very scary,” Aiah added.

BINI Jhoanna also highlighted how meaningful the experience was, noting how their collaboration blended different cultures and perspectives.

“It makes our song unique and actually it is not just about the song (itself) but how music can make people unite across borders,” she said,

For AGNEZ, working with other artists is about more than just creating good music but about building genuine connections which she personally felt with BINI.

“When it comes to collaborating with everybody, you kind of make sure that you love the song and you connect with the people and the collaborator because it’s not a simple disposition, the Indonesian singer said.

“All collaborations need to be very authentic and kind of like happen, in short of like in an organic way.”

“When they sent me the record before, I was like this is amazing. It was pop but then it also has a message of strong girls coming together,” she said.

Agnez went on: “I was very excited and I think it’s not just about us being artists trying to collaborate together, crossing boundaries, multicultural but it’s really a message to everybody out there that no matter where you come from, if you like something you do it.”

Agnez found the collaboration with BINI special because of their shared belief in each other as artists. 

“That’s what is so refreshing about this collaboration. It’s really about our connection as an artist and us believing in each other,” she told PUSH.

Last October, BINI surprised fans with the announcement of a special remix of their song “Cherry On Top” with AGNEZ MO. The collaboration came after the artists met at Enterprise Studios in Los Angeles and at the Billboard Korea K Power 100 launch in Seoul.

As per the press release, BINI and Agnez shared experiences as strong, independent women in the music industry and their passion for promoting local cultures helped bring the collaboration to life.

With such a powerful and promising vision, both BINI and Agnez are eager to work together again on new music.

“We wanted to do an R&B kind of genre (together),” BINI Colet said. “I think we’ve mentioned it when we met in LA. As BINI, we’ve always, like our songs were always like pop, very dancy, upbeat. We want to try something different, chill, something different like chill, sit down (vibe)”

AGNEZ also agreed, “I’m here, I’m always here to support and see what we could do together.”

The artists also look forward to performing the “Cherry On Top (BiniMo Remix)” live for their fans soon.
