In a notice on fan community app Weverse, BigHit Music said its five-piece act "will conclude their activities for 2024" after attending the 39th Golden Disc Awards on January 5, 2025 "and embark on a long-term break."

This marks one of the few instances in the cutthroat K-pop industry where a group will pause its promotional activities. Typically, K-pop acts release new music within a few months, with the time in between often spent preparing for their next release or going on tours.

This year, the quintet—also composed of Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huening Kai—traveled across the United States and Asia for their "Act: Promise" concert tour, and released the Korean extended plays "Minisode 3: Tomorrow" and "The Star Chapter: Sanctuary."
