The third season of Squid Game has made history, debuting at No. 1 in every country where Netflix officially tracks and ranks viewership.

According to Netflix’s Tudum, the new season garnered an impressive 60.1 million views in just three days, setting a new record for the most views in that time frame across the platform.

Season 3 also soared up the charts to become Netflix’s ninth most-watched non-English TV series of all time.

As per previous report by Tudum, the season 3 of Squid Game picks up in the aftermath of season 2’s cliffhanger: "A failed rebellion, the death of a friend, and a secret betrayal — Squid Game Season 3 picks up in the aftermath of Season 2’s bloody cliffhanger. Although Gi-hun is at his lowest point yet, the Squid Game stops for no one."

"So Gi-hun will be forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair as he and the surviving players are thrust into deadlier games that test everyone’s resolve. With each round, their choices lead to increasingly grave consequences."

At the same time, In-ho returns as the Front Man to host the mysterious VIPs, while his brother Jun-ho presses on with his search for the hidden island, unaware that a traitor might be hiding in plain sight.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk teased what fans can expect in the third season of the series.

"As you saw in the end of the second season, all of Gi-hun's attempts go to failure. And so season 3 picks up from there and you will get to see what kind of changes Gi-hun goes through when he's just riddled with this guilt and sense of despair and loss and what's going to happen to him after that, so that's what you'll get in the third season," he relayed.

The third season of Squid Game stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, and Kang Ae-shim among others.
