They say it's difficult for children to step out of the shadow of popular parents, which isn't the case for Luis Christian Singson, Chavit Singson's son, because he's enjoying his life without feeling compelled to outperform his father.

The young Singson is pleased with being his father's trusted person in all of his transactions while pursuing his interests, such as acting and modeling.

He appeared in the top Kapamilya teleserye "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano" when portions of the scenes were shot at their Vigan City home. From there, he rekindled his love of acting, having previously worked as a child actor.

It was also significant for him because he is an avid fan of action films and FPJ himself, saying, “I love FPJ. I love action.”

“Mas natuto akong umarte sa ‘Probinsyano.’ Ginamit ‘yung bahay namin. Na-enjoy ko siya,” he added.

When asked if he intends to make showbiz his full-time job, he replied, “If ‘yun ang ipo-focus ko, I can have a career. But now I'm mainly focused with helping my father in his business.”

“Sinasamahan ko siya every day sa mga meeting niya,” he added.

During a sit-down interview with ABS-CBN News to promote his first film "Beyond The Call of Duty" as the lead actor, the 28-year-old Singson admitted to being a man of few words, as evidenced by his responses to the questions.

“I'm not a man of many words. But I am not shy. This is only me. I have friends who know I am confident,” he said.

Regarding the film that his father financed and JR Olinares directed with Martin Escudero, Martin del Rosario, Paolo Gumabao, Maxine Trinidad, Alex Medina, Ramon Christopher, Devon Seron, Simon Ibarra, and Teejay Marquez as co-stars, he shared, “This is my break. ‘Yung previous movies and series ko, minor roles lang. Bata pa ako nag-start. 10 years old ako nun. ‘Barang’ was my first movie.”

For his preparations for the action-drama film, he told ABS-CBN News: “I do boxing but not for entertainment. I go to the gym every day just to prepare my body for the role.”

Engagement, lessons from father

When Singson, 28, discussed his engagement to Camille Guiriba of Davao, a light appeared in his eyes.

“I’m engaged. We’re not really rushing things naman. She’s from Davao. She’s not in showbiz,” he shared.

Singson acknowledged to being a womanizer before meeting his fiancé, but that changed when he met Guiriba, whom he refers to as "the right one."

“Nagbago ako kasi I believe in love,” he said.

For someone like him who has everything, including financial possessions, privileges, and a good love life, does he expect for more in his career?

He shared with ABS-CBN News, “To be content, to be happy. I’m getting there. You know my dad doesn’t really spoil us. He wants us to start from scratch.”

When asked about his father's parenting style, he told ABS-CBN News, “He’s actually very supportive. He really wants us to work hard.”

“Same kami ng dad na natutuwa kami kapag may natutulungan kami,” he added.

He also stated that his father taught him the concept of independence, which means not relying on things that already exist but rather working hard for them.

“My dad always teaches me. Nung nag-abroad ako, doon ako natutong maging independent, disciplined,” he said.

The most important lesson his father taught him was that nobody is perfect.

“He tells me that nobody is perfect. I made a lot of mistakes in my life in the past. Naging pasaway din ako. There’s always room to improve,” he told ABS-CBN News.

Singson studied graphic design in college and stated that he has always been creative but did not pursue it. He is now content to support his father and make his fiancé happy.

“My dad built his own name. He’s known for helping a lot of people, and that’s what I want to continue,” he shared with ABS-CBN News.
