After making a splash at the ABS-CBN Ball earlier this month wearing Francis Libiran’s two-piece powder blue gown that further highlighted her curves, Incognito actress Kaila Estrada is looking confident and powerful as she takes on more exciting opportunities this year. The 29-year-old actress talked to PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview about how she learned to channel that powerful look, regardless if she’s on the red carpet or onscreen as talented cyberhacker Max Alvero.

“I feel like it was a lot of influence from my modeling background also. I feel like I surround myself with a lot of creative people that also love to give me a lot of advice and a lot of input. I’m very happy to be surrounded by a lot of people that I love and trust and that are rooting for me in that way. It’s not just me — I can’t take all the credit. I have an amazing styling team as well and I work with really amazing designers right now. I’ve worked with so many designers and they’ve become friends of mine. I’m just really grateful. I feel very blessed to be surrounded by such talented creatives,” she shared.

Before her co-star Maris Racal joined the cast, Kaila admitted she was pleasantly surprised to find out something about her all-male co-stars like Daniel Padilla, Richard Gutierrez, Anthony Jennings, Ian Veneracion, and Baron Geisler. “They’re all such gentlemen. I think that’s not a secret though. I feel like people perceive them that way naman. But they’re also really, really funny. I feel like I wasn’t expecting them to be that makulit when I found out I was going to be working with them. Talagang ang kukulit ng mga yun sa set. Lalo na pag magkakasama kaming lahat. So we’re always constantly laughing. Pag magkakasama kami sa isang eksena, it’s hard for us to keep a straight face kasi tawa lang kami ng tawa. So it’s so much fun,” she recalled.

Being part of one of the country’s top action drama series has been a learning experience for Kaila, who admits she has never done an full-action project before. “I think Incognito is a very different project for me in general kasi there’s like a physical aspect that we trained for months to be fit and to be able to do all the choreography correctly. So I feel that helped a lot before we went to training,” Kaila shared.

Kaila also shareed how thankful she was to be working with a seasoned team. “I feel also very blessed to be working with veterans like Richard (Gutierrez), kuya Ian (Veneracion), and DJ (Padilla) who has also done action before. So I got a lot of guidance from them as well,” said Kaila. “ And of course direk Lester and direk Ace and direk Ian, they all made such an effort to take care of our characters and to be able to  portray our characters to the best of our ability.”

“I also feel like I really wanted my first action project to be realistic and I want it as fluid as possible when it comes to the movement. I feel like I still have a lot to improve on but yet I’m stlill very happy with how Max Alvero turned out. In the coming episodes, I feel like they’ll see a slightly different version of Max soon,” she teased. “Hopefully, a more light-spirited Max. So I think that’s what will be new with her.”

But unlike her role onscreen, Kaila admitted she is far from considering herself a techie in real life. “No, I’m the complete opposite! I had to ask my sister for help to back up my iCloud (laughs). So hindi ako techie in real life. But I’m glad it seems that way (laughs),” she added.
