Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition has been a trending topic on social media since its pilot, with both Kapamilya and Kapuso housemates being talked about online.

However, for Kapamilya singer-host Darren Espanto, joining the reality show isn't really in his plans. He opened up about the reasons behind this decision in an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN.

“Kung housemate, parang hindi ko kaya. Ano po yung parang kailangan nasa labas lagi. So, hindi ko makita yung sarili kung nasa yung isang space lang or lugar for up to three months, kung aabot hanggang dulo. So, ayun po. Para silang nasa pandemya. Yung mga housemates, yung bawal lumabas, kayo-kayo lang magkikita sa loob. Parang hindi ko kaya bumalik sa ganun,” he explained.

But Darren mentioned that he is open to the idea of becoming a temporary house guest in the iconic house.

“Kasi nakapasok na ako sa bahay ni kuya parang tatlong beses na po. Nag-hurado ako, tapos dalawang beses na as a guest. Parang sumayaw po kami and stuff like that. So, this time kung guest housemate naman yung titira talaga dun, siguro kung mga ilang araw lang, game lang,” he said.

Despite not being physically present in this year’s edition inside the house, Darren’s voice continues to be heard as he performed the latest version of "Sikat Ang Pinoy" alongside Kapuso actress-singer Julie Anne San Jose.

“Ang bilis lang po namin nag-record ni Ate Julie (Ann San Jose). Saka ang saya, kasama namin si Sir Jonathan (Manalo). Para lang kaming naglalaro din. Kasi the song is very chill. Hindi naman siya yung maraming requirements vocally. Kaya nage-enjoy lang din kami sa recording. It's a fun song to dance along too,” Darren told PUSH ABS-CBN.

Darren also expressed his gratitude to the listeners who have embraced their rendition of the celebrity edition’s official theme song: “Natutuwa po ako kasi positive comments yung nakikita namin online.”
