Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard opened up about his character’s fate in the upcoming finale of the hit Netflix series.

Finn, who plays Mike Wheeler, shared how he felt about his character’s arc in the final season.

"I was so happy with his ending, and I don’t know, I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy," Finn confessed as reported by PEOPLE.

Reflecting on filming his final scene in the series, Finn said: "I just couldn't believe it at all. It didn't really start to go into focus until the next day. It was like an emotional hangover."

"But it ended really well, and I just have such positive things to say about everyone," he added." The cast all stayed for the last day, we were all there together. It was really great to be around each other."

The show wrapped up filming in December 2024.

Series co-creator Ross Duffer took to social media to share an emotional message as production concluded. Having worked on the show for nearly a decade, Ross emphasized the deep bond that had formed among the cast and crew.

"We’ve been telling this story for nearly a decade now. Many of our cast members joined us when they were kids, just ten or eleven years old. It wasn’t just a show for them—it was a defining part of their childhood. They’ve grown up before our eyes, becoming more than actors—they’ve become family," he said.

He went on: "But it’s not just the cast we consider family. Our crew—many of whom have been with us from the very beginning—holds a special place in our hearts. Their dedication and passion have been the backbone of this journey."

Ross also acknowledged the sacrifices made to ensure the show would end on a high note.

"Everyone involved was determined to bring this story to a satisfying conclusion. They poured their hearts and souls into it, and we couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve accomplished. We can’t wait to share it with you all next year. Until then—over and out," he said.

Production for the final season of Stranger Things began in January 2024, with Netflix confirming that writing had already started back in August 2022, shortly after the release of Season 4, Volume 2.

The final season will feature both returning and new cast members, including Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Terminator star Linda Hamilton.

As for what fans can expect in the Upside Down, series co-creator Matt Duffer shared: "We had an idea of what was happening in the Upside Down, but we wanted it to remain unknowable, to keep the mystery alive. However, they pushed us to write it all down, so we did."
