Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy has revealed that he is part of the cast of The Last Resort, an upcoming Hollywood film currently being shot in the Philippines.

Jo Koy expressed his excitement and pride over the production's choice of location and the involvement of Filipino talent.

"It's great to finally see people recognizing the Philippines as a great location to shoot big budget movies," he said in an interview with MJ Marfori of One PH. "We have the background, we have the people who can operate and run it, like we got cameramen, we got actors, we got everything that you need."

The comedian, who recently left the film's set in Palawan, praised the Filipino crew for their dedication and efficiency. 

"The staff was overwhelmingly making this project move fast," he shared. "It was great to see my people representing this Hollywood movie and producing something beautiful."

For Jo Koy, working in the Philippines also carried a deep personal meaning. "It's one thing to shoot a movie and be on set but it's another thing when it's on the motherland where my sister is from, where my mom is from," he stated. 

According to Deadline, The Last Resort follows Brooke (Daisy Ridley), an heiress determined to prove herself by scouting a resort site in the Philippines. She meets Ben (Alden Ehrenreich), a charming expat pilot who helps her rediscover freedom and love as she faces a choice between duty and desire.

Donald Petrie, the director behind Miss Congeniality and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, will be directing the movie. Karen McCullah, who wrote 10 Things I Hate About You and Legally Blonde, wrote the script.

Manuel V. Pangilinan takes on the role of executive producer for the film, with production led by Ernesto "Bong" Sta. Maria Jr. and Raja Collins. Simon Heo, Akshay Mehta, and Rick Dugdale also join the team as co-producers.
