EXCLUSIVE: JC De Vera excited for star-studded reunion in Sins of the Father

Actor JC De Vera is thrilled to reunite with his fellow co-stars in JRB Creative Production’s upcoming crime thriller mystery drama, Sins of the Father.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, JC expressed his excitement about working with both seasoned and rising stars in the highly anticipated Kapamilya primetime series.

“I'm super excited because it's a brand-new show. It's a brand-new cast and there are a lot of people whom I've worked with and there are some artists na first time ko makakatrabaho,” JC said.

As a dedicated actor, JC looks forward to learning from his co-stars, many of whom have inspired him throughout his career. 

“I'm a student of this industry. Alam kong marami akong matututunan again. I have some inspirations and motivators dito sa aming palabas,” he added.

JC also highlighted the gripping storyline of the series, describing it as a suspense thriller filled with unpredictable twists.

“Suspense thriller ‘to, for sure, it will be something different. It has a new flavor pagdating sa primetime ng ABS-CBN. Ito yung palabas na hindi mo mahuhulaan kung anong susunod. It is jam packed with thrilling scenes and maraming-marami pang mga action and drama scenes nito,” he continued. 

JC will be working alongside an impressive cast, including Gerald Anderson, Jessy Mendiola, Shaina Magdayao, Tirso Cruz III, Joko Diaz, RK Bagatsing, Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz, Soliman Cruz, Nico Antonio, Jerald Napoles, and LA Santos.

He shared his enthusiasm about reuniting with lead stars Gerald, Jessy, and Shaina.

“Excited ako makatrabaho si Gerald. Of course, he's the captain of our ship. Alam namin na he'll be a good leader,” he said.

He went on: “Tapos, excited ako makatrabaho ulit si Shaina. We've done a lot of shows siguro mga 8-10 years ago. So, this is our comeback show together. Jessy Mendiola also. I've worked with her siguro mga ganun din, mga 6-7 years ago. So, I'm pretty excited to work with her.”

JC previously worked with Gerald in the film Halik sa Hangin, Shaina in The Better Half and with Jessy in You’re My Home.

Aside from his co-stars, JC is also looking forward to working again with directors FM Reyes and Bjoy Balagtas. He previously worked with them in Nag-aapoy na Damdamin alongside Jane Oineza, Ria Atayde, and Tony Labrusca.

“I'm fully aware that I'm under the umbrella of Direk FMR and Direk BJoy,” JC said. “I know how they do suspense-thriller shows talaga. So, I really expect that this will be a showdown sa lahat sa amin dito.” 

He emphasized that while it’s not a competition, everyone will be giving their best performances.

“Alam namin na everyone would perform at their best. Hindi naman ‘to competition talaga between sa amin pero ito talaga’y magiging isang platform for us actors na ma-ipakita talaga kung ano yung skill namin through our performances,” he said. “Nakakaexcite sa ‘kin kasi alam namin na ‘yung range namin again will be stretched to the fullest.”

JC’s new series also coincides with his 39th birthday. Reflecting on another year, he shared his wishes for himself and his family.

“I prayed that this year, our dear Lord will bless me with a lot of strength and energy so I can work hard and so I can provide very well for my family. And of course, good health. ‘Yun naman ‘yung talagang palagi kong pinagpipray na never ending ‘yung pagpasok ng magandang energy sa ‘kin,” JC said.

JC also wanted this year to be more present for his family, saying, “Not only ‘yung energy para makapagtrabaho, para makapag-exercise, but also the energy to be present all the time sa family ko. It is important na ‘yun ‘yung maibigay sa’kin na blessing ni Lord para maging very productive talaga ako, so I can always be there for my kids whenever they need me and energy to be a good husband also.”

He added, “Hindi lang naman ‘yung ginagawa ko ito para lang makapag-provide but of course, I want to live long. I want to live for my wife and for my kids so that's what I always pray for.”
