Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson is excited to take on a fresh challenge in the upcoming crime-thriller series, Sins of the Father.

During the story conference on Tuesday, March 25, Gerald expressed his gratitude for being part of a star-studded cast and having a compelling storyline.

“I operate from the place of gratitude, and I’m very grateful that I’m part of this team, the production with the directors,” Gerald told PUSH ABS-CBN.

Gerald revealed that Sins of the Father will be a departure from his previous roles, as the series tackles a socially relevant crime-thriller plot.

“It’s a story that will shed awareness, because nangyayari talaga ito everyday. Sabi ko nga kanina, at least may isang segment sa TV Patrol o sa TV 5 (news) or sa ibang news channels about yung storyline namin. Just want to shed more social awareness sa nangyayari, and give them a quality product,” he shared.

The series boasts an impressive lineup, including veteran and rising stars: Tirso Cruz III, Joko Diaz, Jessy Mendiola, JC de Vera, Shaina Magdayao, RK Bagatsing, Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz, Soliman Cruz, Nico Antonio, Jerald Napoles, and LA Santos.

Gerald collaborated with JRB Creative Production in selecting actors he believed would perfectly fit their roles.

“Well, you can only request siyempre, artista lang naman ako. And yung ibang nirequest ko sa production namin shows kung gaano ka-collaborative ang JRB Productions,” Gerald said.

“They also trust me, kung paano ko sila i-trust. And, only good things can happen kapag gano’n eh, kapag collaborative at nagtutulungan kayo, kasi teamwork makes the dream work. Hindi puwedeng isang tao lang. It takes everyone,” he added.

He also emphasized that the series does not focus on a single lead role, as every character plays a significant part.

“Ang sabi ko sa cast kanina, walang namang bida ‘tong show na ‘to eh. It takes everyone to make this successful.,” he expressed.

Gerald was particularly thrilled to reunite with actors he has previously worked with.

“Ang huling trabaho namin ni Tito Pip (Tirso Cruz III) was Budoy pa. I think tatay ko siya do’n. Sina JC (De Vera) nakatrabaho ko na. Si Shaina (Magdayao) sabi ko nga. I was really hoping noong sinabi nila sa ‘kin na pitch sa kanya yung napakagandang character, I was really hoping na tanggapin niya because we know what kind of actress she is and what she brings to the table, so I’m very happy to be working with all of them,” he expressed.

Additionally, Gerald is excited to collaborate with Director FM Reyes, whom he has long admired.

“Pinaka-excited ako siyempre to work with FM,” Gerald stated. “Nakakataba ng puso na gusto niya akong makatrabaho. Matagal ko na rin siyang gustong makatrabaho because of the dedication na binibigay niya. ‘Pag medyo mahirap yung taping namin, medyo long hours, when you see someone dedicated like that, mas ma-pupush ka at mas nabibigyan ka rin ng motivation.” he expressed.

Gerald is already preparing for his role, with Director FM Reyes providing essential research materials to help the actors understand their characters better.

“Well I’ve been preparing nga, since the first meeting namin about the new concept. Nag-preprare na ako. Nag-reresearch. May mga homework tayo,” he told PUSH ABS-CBN.

“Sa unang presentation at sa unang meet namin ni FMR. Mayroon na siyang presentation at hindi lang para sa ‘kin sa role ko, kung ‘di para sa lahat ng cast. Hindi usually ginagawa iyan. So, as an actor, 50% ng trabaho mo, ginawa na ng director, so it’s our job to do the other 50%, at yon ay research,” he added.

The series, produced by JRB Creative Productions, was first announced during the ABS-CBN Christmas Special in 2024. The release date has yet to be confirmed.
