Deadline reports that Star Wars alums Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich are set to headline The Last Resort, a new romantic comedy directed by Donald Petrie (Miss Congeniality, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days). 

The film, produced and financed by Asia Pacific Films, is set to begin production in April.

Written by Karen McCullah (Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You), the film follows Brooke (Ridley), an ambitious woman determined to prove her ability to run her father’s hotel empire. She travels to the Philippines to scout a new resort location, where she meets Ben (Ehrenreich), a charismatic expatriate pilot. 

As their relationship develops, Brooke is faced with the dilemma of choosing between her established life and an unexpected new future.

Manuel V. Pangilinan serves as executive producer, with Bong Sta. Maria Jr. and Raja Collins producing.

Ridley, fresh off her SXSW premiere for We Bury the Dead, has also been recognized for her roles in Young Woman and the Sea and Sometimes I Think About Dying. Meanwhile, Ehrenreich is set to appear in Marvel’s Ironheart and Zach Cregger’s upcoming thriller Weapons, following his roles in Oppenheimer and Fair Play.
