Netflix has released the official trailer for the highly anticipated final season of You, teasing an intense conclusion to Joe Goldberg’s dark and twisted journey.

In the gripping trailer, Joe, played by Penn Badgley, returns to New York. He is now basking in fame thanks to his wealthy partner, Kate. But despite his seemingly perfect life, his past refuses to stay buried.

"Fame definitely took a bit of getting used to. But to live happily ever after, you have to bury your old self," Joe says in the trailer.

The final season finds Joe at the pinnacle of success with wealth, status, a loving wife, and even his son back in his arms. But his violent past and inner demons continue to haunt him.

The trailer hints at Joe cheating on his wife and continuing his violent streak. His carefully crafted facade starts to crumble as Bronte, a new character, resurfaces his darkest secrets.

Fans online were quick to react to the trailer.

In an interview with TUDUM, Penn remarked that returning to New York to film the final season was deeply nostalgic. He reflected on the significance of filming in the city where You first began.

"Returning to the Mooney set on these stages was particularly poignant because this is where we shot Gossip Girl,” he relayed. "And I hadn’t really been back here except for one day of camera testing a long time ago."

While the first season of You was filmed on a different lot, stepping back onto a New York-based set after more than a decade made the experience even more special for the actor. "It was creating new memories but with something that is already also quite iconic,” he highlighted.

Reflecting on the series coming full circle, Penn remarked, "I do think that the show is best in New York City. It’s where it started. It’s where it’s ending. It’s fitting.”

According to Tudum, the new season picks up three years after the last season. You will premiere on April 24.
