MANILA -- Filmmaker Darryl Yap said that his movie "The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma" won't open in Philippine cinemas on February 5 as originally planned.

This after his team was unable to complete all the documents required by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Maraming salamat po,”  the statement read.

Yap also captioned his post, "Natanggal man ang tansan, nananatili ang iyong ispirito."

In the comment section of his post, Yap also wrote: "Puno na rin kasi ang February at March, pero makakahanap lang kami ng available screening dates once ok na ang hinihinging karagdagang documents. Salamat!"

Last week, the MTRCB denied that the controversial film of Yap was undergoing review by the agency, citing incomplete requirements.

The board explained it could not accept the materials from distributor PinoyFlix because the board's legal affairs division required three documents, including a certificate or clearance confirming no pending criminal, civil, or administrative cases from the regional trial court, Department of Justice, and the office of the city prosecutor.

The film about the late actress Pepsi Paloma's life has sparked controversy following the release of its teaser video, which shows Gina Alajar, portraying Charito Solis, confronting Paloma, played by Rhed Bustamante, demanding to know if she was raped by TV host Vic Sotto.

A Muntinlupa court has ordered the removal of the teaser following a petition filed by Sotto against Yap. However, the court ruled that Yap is still allowed "to proceed with the production and eventual release of the film."
