Award-winning director Jun Robles Lana expressed how grateful he is for the success of his latest film, And The Breadwinner Is, as it reached the ₱400 million mark as of January 14. He took it to his personal X (formerly Twitter) account to give credit to everyone who supported and watched the film in cinemas.

And The Breadwinner Is… was an official entry to the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival which starred Vice Ganda, Eugene Domingo, Jhong Hilario, Gladys Reyes, Maris Racal, and Anthony Jennings, among others.

“My heart is overflowing with gratitude! 😭✨ To everyone who watched and championed #AndTheBreadwinnerIs at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, THANK YOU for being a shining light, especially amidst the noise and chaos,” the award-winning director wrote.

He added that the film became the most watched MMFF entry because of the story it presented to the public–– something that everyone who came to watch could relate to.

“Your overwhelming support carried this film to #1, a clear reminder that we wouldn't be here without our amazing audience believing in this story! I believe this film resonated with so many because Bambi's story touched something deep within us. We saw ourselves, our struggles, and our hopes reflected in her journey,” he shared.

“This victory is a testament to the power of connection and the unwavering spirit of those who dare to dream. Maraming, maraming salamat po,” he ended.

Apart from being the top grosser for all of the MMFF entries this year, the film gave Vice the honor to be awarded the Special Jury Citation during the film festival’s Gabi ng Parangal last year.

And The Breadwinner Is… is still showing in cinemas nationwide–– now on its fourth successful week. The film is currently being shown in other territories outside the country as well such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, London, Spain, and the US, among many others.
