Get to know the new players in ‘Squid Game: Season 2’

Following his success in Queen of Tears, Park Sung-hoon is set to be part of another big series, this time in the second season of Squid Game.

In a video uploaded by Netflix introducing the characters of the show, Sung-hoon shared that he will be playing the role of Hyun Ju (Player 120), a former special forces soldier and a transgender woman.

"She joins the game because she's short on money for her gender-affirming surgery. Even though she faces prejudice and tough situations, she shows incredible strength, decisiveness, and natural leadership," Sung-hoon shared on the motivation of his character.

The actor further highlighted: "Through her resilience, she breaks down stereotypes and shines as inspiring character."

Meanwhile, Run On star Im Si-wan plays the role of Myung Gi (Player 333), a YouTube star who got caught up in a crypto scam.

"After losing a significant amount of money and causing substantial losses for his subscribers as well, Myung-gi becomes a fugitive remaining on the run until his involvement in the game," Si-wan relayed about his character.


Meanwhile, BIGBANG member T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) is set to play Thanos (Player 230), a broke retired rapper.

"After watching Myung-gi's YouTube and putting full confidence in him, Thanos went all-in, investing all the money he's saved but he ended up losing it all which lead him to join the game," T.O.P shared about Thanos.

Jo Yu-ri as Jun Hee (Player 222) - Myung-gi's ex, she joins the game after his crypto scheme leaves her broke. Described as "independent and persistent," she’s far from thrilled to face the man behind her financial downfall.

Yang Dong-geun as Yong Sik (Player 007) - A reckless gambler drowning in debt, he is stunned to find his mother, Geum Ja, in the games. Described as his "anchor," she becomes his unexpected connection amidst the chaos.

Kang Ae-shim as Geum Ja (Player 149) - Enters the games determined to clear her son’s gambling debt. Unaware Yong Sik has also joined, she remains driven by her selfless devotion to her family.

Lee Seo-hwan as Jung Bae (Player 390) - Gi Hun’s reckless friend who briefly appeared in Season 1. A fellow gambler who also lost it all, his bond with Gi Hun faces new challenges in Season 2.

Kang Ha-neul as Dae Ho (Player 388) - A tough ex-Marine and "friendly trickster," he hides a vulnerable side beneath his hardened exterior.

Lee Jin-uk as Gyeong Seok (Player 246) - A devoted father who enters the game to fund treatment for his young daughter battling blood cancer.

Park Gyu-young as No Eul - A North Korean defector and former soldier, she joins the game to reunite with the child she left behind.

Chae Kook-hee as Seon Nyeo (Player 044) - Former shaman known for casting curses and grim predictions. Her dark humor adds a touch of levity to the intense game.

Lee David as Min Su (Player 125) - A timid and insecure man in his 20s. Described as an everyman, he embodies the relatable struggles of many young people.

Roh Jae as Nam Gyu (Player 124) - Former nightclub worker who becomes Thanos's henchman in the game, tormenting the timid Min Su.

Won Ji-an as Se Mi (Player 380) -  Fearless and determined player who chooses the game over her difficult life outside. Despite her strength, she shows kindness to gentler players like Min Su.

Squid Game: Season 2 is set to be released on December 26 on Netflix.
