Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital cast members Enrique Gil and Alexa Miro are grateful for the support from Korean actor Park Sung-Hoon.

In an interview during the film’s media conference, Enrique and Alexa were surprised to hear the support from one of the original cast members of the hit Korean film, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.

“Cool. He is awesome. I just feel so good. They did the original one and for them to be able to support us as well in the Philippine adaptation, it’s super cool.” lead cast member and producer Enrique Gil said.

Alexa, who is a fan of the actor, shared her excitement upon hearing Sung-Hoon’s special video message.

“It was a surprise,” Alexa exclaimed. “It’s super cool. It's such a surprise kasi I'm a fan. I watched him in The Glory and sobrang crush ko talaga so I was really surprised.”

Alexa added, “Coming from an A-lister (in Korea), it means so much.”

In a video message shared by PublicityAsia, Sung-Hoon expressed his excitement about the Philippine remake of Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.

“Hello everyone, I am Park Sung-Hoon, the actor who appeared in the Korean movie Gonjiam. I recently heard the exciting news that our movie Gonjiam has been remade in the Philippines titled Strange Frequencies,” the Korean actor said. “As an actor from the original film, I’m absolutely thrilled.”

Sung-Hoon also wished the film success, adding, “Just as Gonjiam was a great success in Korea, I sincerely hope that Strange Frequencies will be a great success in the Philippines as well. Wishing you all the best. Fighting!”

Sung-Hoon starred as himself in Gonjiam, where he experienced paranormal activities at the haunted asylum. He is also known for his roles in The Glory and Queen of Tears, and fans are excited for his upcoming role in the second season of the globally popular Netflix series Squid Game.

Meanwhile, Enrique expressed excitement about introducing a new type of horror to Filipino audiences this holiday season.

“It's a really exciting film. I hope everybody will join it,” Enrique said. “It was all fun. I enjoy it so much especially from the moment we started shooting in Taiwan and the cast.”

The actor also highlighted the unique approach to the film's production.

“It's very meta. It's something very new sa ating Philippine cinemas and I hope they will open to watch it and mag eenjoy talaga sila,” Enrique said.

Although shot in Taiwan, producer Dondon Monteverde expressed that they still imparted Filipino touches in the film.

“Marami nang mga horror movies na ginawa sa Philippines so we wanted to bring in a different texture atsaka different sensibility when it comes to horror,” Dondon explained.

“Ginawa natin Pinoy yung touch with the touch of Taiwan (culture) parang ghost ng Taiwan, iba yung religion,” he added. “Nagreasearch kami. Kailangan doon tayo magpunta kasi siyempre ang location is the star of the show.”

Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital is produced by Erik Matti and veteran filmmaker Ronald “Dondon” Monteverde of Reality MM Studios, in partnership with Enrique. The film is also part of the 50th edition of Metro Manila Film Festival.
