"We've been discussing and talking about this film," Agustin explained. "Hindi lang siya kasi basta pelikula samin ni Jolina, parang ito yung buhay namin mula ng '90s and this is something that we want to do again as artists as actors."

The teaser showed that Agustin and Magdangal's chemistry has not lost its spark through the years, and they hope that the 90s vibe will also resonate with viewers.

"Seeing the teaser like that, na parang in a way yung vibe nung 90s 'yun din yung nararamdaman namin and I hope 'yun din yung nararamdaman niyo kasi 'yun yung gusto namin ipanood sa inyo," said Agustin.

According to producer Antoinette Jadaone, the project has been in the works since 2018, even before the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Feeling ko si Marvin and Jolina, meron silang unique brand of rom-com," Jadaone said. "Na miss namin yung ganung romcom na manonood tayo ng sine para kiligin at tumawa."

Director JP Habac, who helms the film, spoke of the ease and collaborative spirit on set.

"First day, ako sobrang kabado ako," Habac admitted. "Pero nung day one, first shooting day namin, sobrang nawala yung kaba yung kasi sobrang gaan katrabaho nina Marvin at Jolina… at sobrang collaborative."

Aside from Agustin and Magdangal, Ex Ex Lovers will also feature actor-singer Juan Karlos and actress Loisa Andalio in supporting roles.
