“Ang lakan ay naiipit sa dalawang mundo. Mundo ng tradisyon, heritage, kultura at mundo nung pamilya, yung mga tunay na nararamdaman na galing sa kanyang puso,” Sotto shared, teasing audiences about the emotional depth of his character.

Directed by Michael Tuviera, he describes “The Kingdom” as a non-political film focusing on the theme of family.

“Yung pinanggalingan po talaga ng konsepto actually we wanted to make a non-political film about politics,” he revealed. “That’s why yung pinaka theme o yung pinaka soul nung pelikula is still about family and ‘yun yung ano parang nabuhay na dun yung kwento yung nabuo na namin yung mga characters but at the end of the day, it’s still all about family.”

The film explores how politics, tradition, and family intertwine, offering a unique narrative with heart and relevance.

The media conference also saw the unveiling of the film’s official trailer for the first time.

Piolo Pascual, who is part of the ensemble cast, shared his emotional reaction upon watching the trailer. “When I was watching there as a film fan, I always look for goosebumps. I always try to feel if this is right. But upon watching the trailer, kinilabutan ako the whole time,” Pascual expressed, praising the team’s hard work and dedication in bringing the story to life.

'The Kingdom' is set to hit theaters nationwide on December 25, 2024, as an official entry to the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival. With its star power, compelling storyline, and promise of a heartfelt cinematic experience, the film is expected to be a major contender this holiday season.
