MANILA -- The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) conducted its 39th Star Awards for Movies Sunday night at the Winford Resort and Casino in Manila, which was attended by som e of the country's top movie stars.

"Family Matters" and "Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told" tied for Movie of the Year, with "Broken Blooms" winning Indie Movie of the Year.

During the awards ceremony, all of the winners, including Nadine Lustre for Actress of the Year, Baron Geisler for Movie Actor of the Year, Dimples Romana for Movie Supporting Actress of the Year, and Mon Confiado for Movie Supporting Actor of the Year, received their trophies.

Meanwhile, Roderick Paulate received a Lifetime Achievement Award, while Seiko Films' big boss Robbie Tan won the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Congratulations sa lahat ng winners at nominado. Sa mga artista at manggagawa sa harap at likod ng kamera, sana patuloy pa po niyong yakapin at mahalin ang Pelikulang Pilipino. Huwag po sana kayong magsawa sa paggawa at paglikha ng mga pelikula. Mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino,” said Rodel Fernando, PMPC president.
