Actor Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in The Chosen, at the Teal Carpet to meet fans and supporters of the show. Raphael Bosano, ABS-CBN NewsMANILA -- Fans of the popular religious series The Chosen finally met “Jesus” in person. 

Jonathan Roumie, who portrays the iconic role of the Messiah, graced the Teal Carpet on Friday to interact with supporters and fans of the show. He expressed his gratitude to the many Filipino followers of The Chosen and how they are are also leading the way for other believers. 

“You are leading the way for so many other nations as to what it means to be a culture of faith, to be a culture that puts God above everything else. We thank you for that, for that example,” he said. 

Roumie also led the fan screening event of Christmas with The Chosen: Holy Night, a retelling of the birth of Jesus through the eyes of Mary and Joseph — something he admitted is very apt for the holiday season. 

“The fact that we do it in a way that also invites worship music to be a part of the film, of the experience of the story of the nativity, I think it’s an opportunity to just really remind ourselves what this season is about. It’s about Christ.” 

Now on its fourth season, The Chosen is Biblically-faithful but modern retelling of the story of Jesus, how he chose His disciples, and His journey to different places to perform healing miracles. 

It’s latest season is slated to come out on Resurrection Day (Easter) in 2025. Roumie assured fans of The Chosen the latest season will be no less intense and joyful than its predecessors. 

“It’s gonna be so intense, beautiful and heartbreaking as well. You can always expect a good cry when you sit down to watch a season of The Chosen. I think, for me, it’s my favorite season yet,” Roumie said.
