Manalo made history last year after being crowned Miss Universe Asia, forming part of the pageant's first-ever batch of continental queens. She joins Tati Calmell of Peru (Miss Universe Americas), Matilda Wirtavuori of Finland (Miss Universe Europe and Middle East), and Nigeria's Chidimma Adetshina (Miss Universe Africa and Oceania).
