Multi-awarded actress Carla Guevara Laforteza is the newest addition to the cast of the Philippine staging of Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods." 

She will play the roles of Giant, Granny, and Snow White in the musical by Theatre Group Asia (TGA) which is slated for August at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati. 

"I am up for the challenge!" Laforteza said in a statement released by TGA, referring to her multiple roles in "Into the Woods" which she said she has always enjoyed watching.

"I am just so grateful to be able to do this show, especially since I will finally be able to do a musical with my inspiration and idol, Lea Salonga!" she added. "I've only done events and concerts with her so to be able to experience the process of rehearsals and doing the entire run with her is quite amazing."

Like Salonga, Laforteza has previously played Kim, as well as Gigi, in "Miss Saigon" in London. 

Her other international credits include roles in "Saturday Night Fever The Musical," "Avenue Q," and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

Laforteza joins the star-studded lineup of "Into the Woods" which includes Salonga, Arielle Jacobs, and Eugene Domingo, among others. 

The musical, based on a book by James Lapine, is a dark comedy that intertwines several fairy tale characters' exploits.
