More cast members have been added to the Philippine staging of Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods."

On Monday, Theatre Group Asia announced the inclusion of Tex Ordoñez as Cinderella's stepmother, with Sarah Facuri and Kaki Teodoro as the evil stepsisters Florinda and Lucinda, respectively.

They join the lineup of theater stars like Lea Salonga, Arielle Jacobs, and Eugene Domingo in the dark comedy based on a book by James Lapine.

"I'm excited to give my version of Cinderella's stepmother, that maybe she is not as evil as she seems. I love how our favorite children's stories and characters somehow intertwine to experience a magical twist," said Ordoñez, whose recent theater credits include "Sandosenang Sapatos" and "Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya Ni Edgar Musical."

Facuri, on the other hand, shared what excites her the most about playing Florinda: "What excites me is how bold and sassy she is. She's dramatic, ambitious, and totally unapologetic about going after what she wants!"

"I love getting to bring that kind of character to life, especially with the fun twist on the fairy tale that makes her journey even more exciting," added the actress, who was part of the Philippine and Singapore runs of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."

Teodoro, known for her performances in "Every Brilliant Thing" and "High School Musical Live," said she loves playing "dark, humorous" characters like Lucinda.

"It is so exciting to play the stepsister Lucinda because she is cruel and comical. I love that combination. I'm going to have so much fun exploring her superficial nature, her desperation, and the family dynamic," she said.

"Into the Woods" is slated for August at Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati.
