As the sun set over Bulacan, painting a stunning blend of orange and blue across the sky, fans of ENHYPEN streamed into the Philippine Sports Stadium, their excitement palpable. They sang along to the songs blasting through the venue and let out giddy shrieks each time their favorite members were flashed on the screens.

As night fell and the clock struck 6:30, the screams grew louder—frenzied, even—when the seven-member act finally took the stage, clad in sleek all-black ensembles befitting the vampire concept woven into their music and videos.

“Yeah, I brought the heat back,” Jay sang as he and his bandmates launched into “Brought The Heat Back,” the disco-tinged opener to the Bulacan stop of their “Walk the Line” tour on Saturday. It was no empty boast because, indeed, ENHYPEN kept things heated throughout the three-hour show.

Hot were the performances that ENHYPEN delivered through a 26-piece repertoire, treating fans to mostly tracks from the albums they released since their last visit over a year ago.

The boys themselves burned with passion as they coupled most of the songs with dynamic choreography. Each move was executed with power, yet there was an effortless confidence, as if performing from muscle memory with refined finesse, never coming across as calculated or mechanical. They were also likely feeling the heat of the sweltering weather, their faces gleaming with sweat at several points.

The performances were amplified by other production elements, including an abundance of flames, sparks and smoke shooting up from the front of the stage. Fireworks, typically reserved for the finale, were used early on, lighting up the night sky during the opening song and again in “Paranormal” during the encore set.

The energy was on a high, especially during the anthemic, rock-infused “Future Perfect (Pass the Mic),” where, towards the end, the members were joined by their backup dancers spread across the B-stage, leading the crowd in a rousing clap-along.

But it wasn’t just the idols. The fans were just as fired up, eager to show their love for the group.

After the opening set, for instance, the group was met with roaring cheers, prompting leader Jungwon to remark, “This is great! You guys sound so excited already.”

The screams noticeably intensified at certain moments, such as when Sunoo and Jake strutted down the B-stage, both blowing kisses to the crowd. In contrast to the more reserved Sunoo, Jake savored his time, covering the far ends of the stage and even going the extra mile by high-fiving lucky audience members.

In some instances, the cheers escalated into frantic shrieking, like when Jay shrugged off his jacket to reveal his toned shoulders and arms, then performed body waves and pounded his chest, or when Heeseung playfully teased the audience by slipping off one side of his jacket.

The Filipino fans were not one to back down from singing along, too. Heeseung even took the opportunity to test their vocal skills, asking them to mimic his various ways of singing “yeah.”  In the end, Heeseung praised the crowd, saying, “You guys are the best.”

The fan chants also added to the fun, like when the crowd recited the members’ names during “Go Big Or Go Home” or when they confidently shouted “yes” in response to the line “Can I kiss you? Can I hug you?” and “mwah” to “Would you kiss me?” in “XO (Only If You Say Yes).”

Love for fans

ENHYPEN radiated with love for their fans, collectively called ENGENE, as well. This was made clear when Jay delivered a sort of manifesto at the beginning of the concert.

“We (ENHYPEN and ENGENE) are inseparable. We will love [each other] forever,” he declared with a commanding voice, the crowd repeating his words.

ENHYPEN’s words could easily be downplayed as something artists often tell their fans, but a particular gesture showed they weren’t just trying to flatter their supporters. While it’s common for K-pop fans to create heartfelt banners for their idols at concerts, the group took a unique approach by preparing their own banners for the fans, which they revealed during the encore.

The fans were visibly moved as the banners displayed the message, “ENGENE, remember what we told you? This is the Philippines I’ll remember,” a reference to a comment Jay made during the “Fate” concert at the New Clark City Stadium last year.

In the midst of the heated moments, ENHYPEN also proved they knew how to cool things down, literally. Armed with water guns while riding carts, they soaked fans and each other as they made their way to a secondary stage closer to audiences at the back, then did the same while circling the vast stadium for more up-close interactions with the crowd.

The energy also dialed down when the septet performed a set of laidback tracks, including the fan-dedicated “Highway 1009” alongside “Not For Sale,” “Your Eyes Only,” “Orange Flower (You Complete Me)” and “Scream.”

‘One of the best’

The concert (produced by Applewood Philippines) was truly a hot one for ENHYPEN—something Jake commented on as the show neared its conclusion. “I know it’s pretty hot today but I feel like with your energy, I think it got a lot hotter,” he said.

“For me, personally, I love performing here. Your energy is always one of the best so I love you, Philippines. Thank you,” he added.

Ni-ki noted that the fans’ energy was amazing from the soundcheck to the very end, while Sunghoon mentioned he enjoyed the concert immensely. Meanwhile, Jungwon expressed his sadness that the concert was only for one day.

It might not be an exaggeration to say that the boys also found renewed energy through the concert. After all, 2025 is shaping up to be another busy year for the group, with a performance at Coachella in April and a new album in the works.

“We’re preparing for a lot of things. We have Coachella, an album and more. But I was able to feel a driving force when I went here, got on stage and felt the energy of the Filipino ENGENE,” Heeseung said through an interpreter.

Jay similarly said the group received “a lot of strength” from the passionate cheers. “That’s why you guys make us really want to come back to the Philippines every time,” he said.

Sunoo challenged the fans, asking, “Can you be even more passionate when we return to the Philippines?” The crowd responded with a “yes.” With a bright smile, Sunoo raised his pinky finger and asked, “Promise?” — a simple gesture that sealed the deal and ramped up the excitement for ENHYPEN’s next visit.
