The jampacked crowd during TJ Monterde’s third night at the Araneta Coliseum as they witnessed the love between the singer-songwriter and his wife KZ Tandingan.

After singing their mega hit duet "Palagi," Tandingan shared a heartfelt message, expressing her newfound love for her husband. But first, she thanked the audience for showing up and supported Monterde.

“Unang una po sa lahat, gusto ko kayong pasalamatan isa-isa. Sa mga nanood ng Day 1 and Day 2, maraming maraming salamat po for choosing to be with TJ these past three days. Hindi po kayo nagkamali sa taong susuportahan,” she said.

Then she started lauding Monterde’s generosity.  

 “Kung gaano po siya ka-generous onstage, sa puso niya, kung paano siya magkwento sa inyo, kung paano siya nag-iinspire, nag-e-encourage sa inyo, ganun na ganun siya off stage. This person is an example of God’s testimony, that He is the God of everything,” she said.

She continued, “Kaya niyang i-compress ang time, kaya niyang ibigay 'yung mga pangarap mo in a snap. Sobra akong grateful na I get to witness that every single day, for the rest of our lives.”

Tandingan said Monterde wears many hats in their lives -- “a great artist, singer, songwriter, head of his own label, husband, dada to our dogs, son-in-law, brother.” But best of all, she said, “TJ is my inspiration”.

“Kasi as an artist, I also feel like I’m in my season of waiting, and sometimes I feel like it’s time to just throw in the towel and give up on music and everything. But everytime I wake up in the morning and I look at my left, I see this man. And I am reminded, that a few years ago, he was gonna give up. But he chose to fight,” she said.

And now, Monterde is one of the most celebrated OPM stars with the number one hit song in the country for 2024 -- "Palagi."

“So, in behalf of all of us, thank you for reminding us that dreams really do come true," Tandingan said. "I love you so much, wala ka nang magagawa. I love you so much, I never imagined that I could love you even more after ten years of being together. And I’m excited to spend ten more lifetimes with you. I love you, palagi.”

Monterde then gave Tandingan a warm hug and the two shared a kiss onstage.

Speaking to the press after the show, Monterde said he told Tandingan that he would kiss her on stage.

“Sabi ko, ‘mamaya kiss kita on stage ha’, ‘Huwag kang magbiro nang ganyan’, kaya ilag na ilag siya. Lagi ko naman sinasabi sa kanya na wala din naman ang lahat ng ito, kung 'di dahil sa kanya,” he said.

“I can safely say na meron itong concert na ito because of ‘Palagi’ and siya 'yung inspirasyon ko when I wrote the song.”

KZ gifted TJ a luxury watch to celebrate

Doing a concert for three consecutive nights is not an easy feat. The demands on the physical alone is massive. That’s why Monterde said, “Magpapamasahe po ako bukas” as a reward for himself.

“May schedule na po ako sa masahista. Lahat ng gusto kong kainin, bukas magpapahinga lang talaga ako,” he sid.

But seriously, Monterde wanted to buy himself a gift -- just to commemorate this milestone in his decade-long career.

“I want to buy a watch. To celebrate na, ‘Nag Araneta na ako!’ Gusto ko bumili ng relo,” he said.

For the past few weeks, he’s been eyeing a Rolex watch. In fact, Monterdse said he even asked his production manager how much is his talent fee for this concert and checked if it’s enough for him to buy the watch.

But he was surprised.

“Before the show started, niregaluhan ako ni KZ. Nung relo’ng yun. Sobrang na-touch ako kasi hindi pa naman ako sure kung bibilhin ko 'yung relo’ng 'yun. Pero binili niya for me. It’s my first of this brand of watch. Na-touch ako kasi binigyan niya ako nun, pero wala siya nung relo’ng yun. Inuna niya ako.”

He added, “Masaya ako, it’s the gesture.”

Martin Nievera as front act

Monterde and Tandingan met through Martin Nievera. And if match-making wasn’t enough to establish how close Nievera is to the couple, the Concert King surprised Monterde when he offered to be his front act for the third night.

Monterde had no clue that Nievera will be his front act, so when he found out about it, he broke down in tears.

“'Yung iyak ko grabe, 'yung admiration. The humility of this man, he’s the Concert King and siya nag-offer mag-front act. Grabe 'yung humility para gawin niya 'yun. So I really admire Sir Martin,” he said.

After the show, Nievera congratulated him and again, Monterde was in tears. “Kaya 'yung iyak ko nun. Sabi ko, thank you for opening my doors. Sabi niya ‘no, no no, I have nothing to do with this. This was all yours.’ I’ll forever look up to Sir Martin.”
