A Philippine-exclusive cover will soon be released by DC Comics, a first in its 91-year history.

The said cover for Absolute Flash #1 is part of the groundbreaking Absolute Universe, a reimagining of DC Comics' iconic superheroes.

It shows The Flash speeding at a fun run event in Manila--the cover will be exclusively available for registrants of the SuperManila Fan Run, which will be held on March 16 along Ayala Avenue in Makati.

The event, organized by the team behind the SuperManila Comic Con, encourages participants to dress up as their favorite pop culture characters.

"The team behind SuperManila wanted a cover that celebrates the unique connections between DC Comics and the Philippines," SuperManila organizer Ivan Guerrero said in a statement. "Few people realize that the city of Manila has appeared in DC Comics for over 80 years, starting with Blackhawk #9 in 1944 and most recently in Absolute Batman #1 in 2024."

"We've worked with many amazing Filipino artists on past DC variant covers, but those were always shared editions released in other countries," added co-organizer Sandy Sansolis. "This is the first Philippine-only release for a DC variant cover."

An all-star team of celebrated Filipino comic book artists brought the exclusive variant cover to life.

The cover is penciled by Carlo Pagulayan, who designed Warrior Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok; with inks from Jason Paz and colors from Romulo Fajardo, both regular collaborators with DC and Marvel.

The Flash's legacy has been deeply connected to Filipino talent. Acclaimed Filipino-born artist Francis Manapul played a major role in shaping the character's modern stories during DC Comics' New 52 era, while Fil-Am Greg LaRocque helped define his look in the late '80s and early '90s.
