MANILA -- The country’s visual arts community remains vibrant, with the holding of the annual Philippine Arts Month in February, aside from regular art auctions in the metro.

Following its well-received debut in 2024, Gallery Nine Two Eight opens its quarterly offering this year with “A Vault of Timeless Pieces: The Ultimate Art Auction,” on March 1, 2 p.m., at 2/F LRI Design Plaza, Nicanor Garcia Avenue, Bel-Air, Makati.

The auction features 107 lots — including Onib Olmedo’s “The Tennis Player (1971, oil on canvas), Lydia Velasco’s “Tabing Ilog (2005, acrylic on canvas), Romulo Olazo’s “Papestry” (1994, dyed, pressed paper pulp with dyed abaca strands), Nena Saguil, untitled (1960, acrylic on paper), Vicente Manansala’s “Pieta” (1970, oil on canvas), Neil Doloricon’s “The Spoils Belong to the Victors” (1995, oil on canvas), and Ombok Villamor’s “Submerged in Wonder” (2020, acrylic on canvas), plus a private sale of select works of Ronald Ventura, Popo San Pascual, and Tom Russ.

“Each auction serves a purpose that goes beyond the mere selling of unique works. It is an event that celebrates the pieces and the experience of seeing them. Every lot is more than an item up for grabs — it is a piece of history that comes to life,” says auction director Jeffrey G. Dimalanta.
